It's almost 2025, who's using Diezel?

I still have and love my Diezels. They're solid amps and doing just fine for the past 30 years. Some people love 'em, some just don't... same as any other brand and line up.
I wouldn't give too much of a shit on what the latest flavour amp brand is on RT chat tbh. It comes and goes just like the past few months/weeks have been all about the Snorkler, Wizzers, Mezzabarbarabarbaba and RI IICGTB+.

I remember many years ago when Diezels were very popular on RT. VH4, Hagen, Einstein, Herbert,... but it's been pretty quiet the last few years.

It seems a number of new high gain amp makers are the current favs, and Diezel's amp line doesn't have new offerings, unlike Bogner...

Back in the day, I went with an Engl rack rig, but it was close between that and a Diezel VH4 rig. Been listening to VH4 and getting GAS, not that I need a VH4 (it's in my Fractal).

So who still has their Diezels, any one else GASing for a Diezel, or planning to get one in the near future? Did you replace a Diezel with something else,...?
Buy a VH2

Really?! Guess I missed it, or haven't been paying attention? :dunno:
TechDeath have mentioned his VH2 quite some times, Simon also never dissapoints with his pinch harmonics 😂

Chuggs also been playing a Herbert iirc. So they are around and are mentioned regularly. It is just the hype has settled probably.

So I'm in a similar boat, outside of Tool & Metallica, I have no idea who is known for getting the best tones out of them.

Like others I definitely find them too cold/processed, but I heard a VH4 with an NFB mod from GZA and it sounded wild. Kinda makes me want one but they're just too expensive for what would probably be my 4th or 5th choice amp.

I hear ya. Just curious about the current state, we always have the latest flavor of the month, and new things get a lot of attention...now that I have my Marshall sounds covered, and since selling my Engl E530... I started to think about a high gain head, Headfirst, 5150III Stealth 100, and of course VH4 which has my attention now.

Of what I own, it'd see less playing time than...
  • Monomyth Skeleton Key
  • GZA Hellion
  • Marshall Plexi
  • Fender Showman
Then in terms of spending money on new amps I'm keeping an eye out for deals on a Mesa Mark and Wizard MCII before I'd consider picking up a Diezel.

I've got nothing against them, just a lot of good options out there and I don't have $15k lying around for all of the rest lol.

Does GZA have a mod for the Diezel VH4?

I'd love to try a Alta100 sometime. I'm even in the right country for it, just not the right time to buy a new amp without losing a limb in my sleep probably.

@RedPlated /\

I don't remember where I saw the clip

It was on Facebook.

It was just a NFB mod. I added a pot in one of the 4 ohm speaker jack holes.

I’ve never heard such a drastic difference in an amp than adding that NFB pot to a Diezel. I’ve done it on a Hagen and Herbert also. They open up and come alive. Easiest and best mod for them. Easily reversible with no drilling.
