It's almost 2025, who's using Diezel?

Yep! I’m one of the RT members that Jeremy helped with mod. It absolutely is a welcomed change. Did on the MK3 Herbert. Really opened it up. It only took 10 minutes to complete. Highly recommended.

Next time I get a Diezel in I’ll make a tutorial on how to do the mod. I’ve already had a few RT guys hit me up for help with it. It’s a really worthwhile mod and a huge bang for the buck, so to speak.
if I wanted to quickly try this out, could i clip in a resistor of fixed value? If so, do you have a recommended value/wattage?

Yes you can do that. Use at least a 1w resistor. I like the Vishay PRO2 series. They’re 2w metal
film, but the size of a typical 1w resistor.

Just break the connection from the NFB supply from PCB to speaker jack. Insert the resistor in between and try it. Get something like 47k - 100k if you really want to hear a difference

Just clip in the 250 k pot and find the value you're liking. I'm digging it well over half the pot somewhere 100k or above.

I love my Herbert mk3. The headroom is something out of this world, highly recommended specially for lower tunings.

Hagen is really the only Diezel on my radar and I’m still a little leery as vids sound either “pretty ok or absolute flubb city”

It looks cool as fucky though. There was one for sale for like $2500 and I’m pretty pissed I didn’t pull the trigger.

I'm a guitar player and I'm serious. I looked it up and it is the geekiest shit I've ever heard.

I thought I explained it before in this thread?

Maybe this is easier to understand?

VHX delivered today. Just in time for the weekend.

It appears to have survived UPS (it turns on); haven't played through it yet, plan to do so tonight.

RTFM between work meetings...

I’ve owed a few of them: Paul, Herbert MK1, VHX, Einstein and have tried a VH4.

Out of all of them I kept the Einstein. Great amp.

I have heard Diezels described as "processed" as well on a number of occasions. I think this commentary may be semantic to some degree. Having owned a VH4, D-Moll, Hagen and Herbert...None sounded like what I would described as processed, but in my opinion they do sound somewhat "produced". Almost like some studio magic in post had already been applied. This is particularly true of the Herbert in my experience. George Lynch once recorded some tracks with Bob Kulick (RIP) in Van Nuys using my Herbert MK I and Bob told me that neither he or George could believe how little had to be done to make the basic rhythm tracks to sound "perfect" in the mix. That said, Diezels certainly do not present as "raw" sounding the way most would describe a vintage Marshall, but also not cold or digital feeling the way most ENGL amps have sounded to my ears. Not certain if this makes sense.
I would've actually been the one to record Lynch with Bob in Van Nuys on that Diezel....Is this Silus ?
