James not using Diezel's anymore??

I haven't read any of this thread, so it's probably already been said, but Metallica have had Triple Rectos on show for years despite them not using them at all.

I know a lot of people who have bought Rectos because they're "what Metallica use".

Tone is subjective...personally I haven't heard a better live tone than the one James has going, and yes, I have seen Tool among about 200 other bands...

I do this for a living.

he is not using the cabs that are on stage.

Metallica have been using Iso boxs for years.

small club? na they ain't using those cabs.

Metallica run In Ear monitors.

so stage volume is at a minimal

In those pictures the amps are empty.

and you can change the bulbs on Rectifiers if it hasnt been said already

ich hab auch schon mehr gelacht.

die genialität eines hetfields nicht zu erkennen ist pure ignoranz.

you gotta understand us, we are EXTREMELY fanboys ;)

for the mighty james , i would do anything

I remember reading about James saying he was going back to Mesa because of the midrange. That he liked that sound better.
I also remember reading Adam Jones saying he liked the Mesa better than the Diezel's but the rest of the band felt he was taking up to much frequency space with the Dual Rectifier.

My self .... I like all the amps for what they are.

Fanboy as u guys no me. I was always curious what Diezels sounded like back when I heard he was using them in the SKOM days. But they seemed so expensive. Well I told this story before.....but I was living in the mid-west at the time and walked into a local shop for a set up and a VH4 was there. Plugged it in and ran home and sold 3 heads I had to get it. Chanel 1 and 3 is what really sold me on it. Since then I tried the Herbert, but just have stayed with the VH4S and VH4. Just love their sound. The Herbert was a great amp, but a few things bugged me. I had trouble a lot dialing in my sound (it seemed more of a metal type amp IMO and I don't play metal in my band). However the Herbert IMO did have a real sick clean glassy tone where the VH4 is a little darker IMO) I just always loved the Vh4's ability to dial in so fast my tone, love the channel insert features (as I am not a pedal guy...just need a Boss Super chorus, tuner, NS-2 and Delay) so it is nice to just have one or two in each channel insert on top and store em on my ground control.)

Not trying to knock Mesa boogie, but i had a bunch.......road king, roadster, dual rect, rectoverb....even tried the tri-axis and 2:90 at one point. But just always felt either they were too muddy or to much in the treble department. Plus I found I was always tweaking the hell out of them....almost every time I went to play. With the VH4 I almost never have to tweak.

and yeah when I saw Metallica in November in NY the distortion sounded insane.

btw. i ADORE your videos, they are awesome, always great to watch ! :)
youve got a great tone and some tight feeling.

hi everybody!!

i played with my band sober, in barcelona with metallica in the saint anger tour, all the rectos on the stage are empty, with a green led tube inside, all the cabs are empty, they have isolated cabs under the stage. they have land rover stickers on few cabs..., and they were the vh4, and the triaxis. i dont know how it blended. the guitar tech has two 2x12 boogies, and everything was controlled by the tech.

in those days i was endorsed by mesa, and i mailed mr. peter diezel, love at the first sting!!....

but metallica, in the studio, uses a lot of amps, in the last dvd, you can see bogner uberschalls, randalls, marshalls, kranks and diezels....and of course mesas...

diezel are the best amps out there. imo

Pretty much what I've been saying all along, but thanks for this. :)
