New Joe Holmes project coming by summer
With an announcement coming in the next month!! It is unlike anything he has done before.....fans of heavier hard rock/metal will digg it!! Vocally think, Deep Purple meets Soundgarden!! I'm friends w/ the singer and they've been working on this for almost a year & go into the studio Wednesday to finish it up over the next month. There are some bigger names involved, the announcement will confirm all this....they've decided on the name & photo shoots w/ a big name photog are booked for this week. I'll keep everyone posted!!

below is a pic of Joe in the studio working on the project which the singer emailed me!!
I've heard a few unmixed/unmastered tracks from this & it sounds HUGE!! I'll keep everyone posted when I get the ok to reveal more!!

This is great news. I have been digging around the net for a few years trying to find out what he has been up to. I am really looking forward to hearing what he is going to release. Joe needs to come up with some kind of web presence. Nothing major. Just something where people like me can find out what he is doing.

Everyone knows I'd be the first one to this party  Joe's tone was absolutely sick everytime I saw him. From the clubs of LA to the arena's with Ozzy. One of if not THE best live tone I ever heard.

I had a friend who worked with Matt Bruck (Eddie's tech) when they were transforming Joe's club rig into an arena rig. I have never heard of there being any sort of boosting going on with Joe's amps. His pickup isn't that high output either. It's a Jackson model pickup that he worships called a J-80 that has an alnico 5 magnet and is about 12.5k. It's like a slightly underwound Duncan Custom 5. I have a couple of the J-80's and don't really think they are that special.

Hello Chubtone :m17:

Do you you still have any j 80 pickup? If yes let me know if there is any chance to sell one, thank you in advance

always a good thread to resurrect from the bowels of RT for the Jose crowd.......

nice to see some other Joe Holmes fans around here! i saw him in the mid 90s with Ozzy and was blown away. i wish Joe came back instead of Gus G for Zakk's replacement. not only was his tone great but i really dig the 70s strats with floyds, added 22nd frets, bridge hums and that custom control layout he uses.

anyway, here's a pdf of info i scanned from young guitar on him....

can anyone translate it??

It also says I posted that in 2009 when this thread was from.  I don't have that site anymore that I used to host it, thus why the link is dead. I do however still have the PDF scan I did back then. :D

Oh how I love RT... :)

SDE 3000 vs 2290, 2290 still king there? On a quest for a delay....

Holmes W/D/W tones w/Henning Amps. Check... Designed my amps (and this rig!) with his live tone w/Ozzy in mind...

How's the Matrix for driving your wet side?
Fucking Awesome! Better and WAY, WAY lighter than the VHT 2/50/2 I used to have. The Matrix is loud enough through my 16 ohm Left and Right cabs to compete with the Cherry Bomb through the Center cab set for Bleeding Eardrum Coliseum levels... Just ask the guys at the LA Amp Show last year...

Gonna need another SDE3000 there, chief! - they are mono as you know. One needs to be set for 250 ms delay, 11 feedback, 30 out, modulation section - 40 rate, 8 depth. Second one is the same except 500 ms delay. Need to use the mixed output of each to get dry in the wet cabs as Joe did. Adjust the out to taste... Make sure you set the UNIGAIN switch to -20dBm - trust me on this!

Yeah, I can do that, but it's so much easier to just record the dry guitar cab and then do everything in my DAW. In fact, most of my clips, the effects added in the DAW (except the VH ones) mimic the live setup. It's really hard to capture the three cabs well - you get bleed of the wet into the dry cabs, etc. It's really a live setup - you have to hear it in the room. The guys at the LA Amp Show last year were really diggin' it - I took the whole W/D/W setup!

Gonna fake it with a W/D rig instead of stereo (for now).

danarredondo - in check, in progress eta hopefully soon (did u catch that, )
6 x 412 - check,,, possibly re figure -- 1-4x12, 2- 2x12ev (2--1x12ev)
1000- 1 check only have old ibanez unit & lexicon kicking around

re: above rig----curious about the tone of matrix compared to using pure tube muscle. Ya well aware of trade-off, but very noticeable or not is the question.

well, have a couple 400 slaves, a 200 slave collecting dust,, hhhm, all massive power, but the weight comes with it. Non issue if crew is doing all the setups, but if i personally if to do setups, than may become issue. In between various situations.

The clips of that amp that I've heard have been fantastic!
