Yeah, that Bob Rock/Kirk exchange about the Unforgiven was probably as heated as it got between those two. Reason being that when the black album came out, Kirk said that overall it was a lot LESS stressful working for Bob vs Flemming Rasmussen !!! He said FS was like a drill sergeant, constantly cussing and demanding retake after retake while Bob was more relaxed. Now that they’re surrounded by yes men in the studio, it’s evident what works best for these guys and what doesn’t.
 
The Unforgiven solo is one of the best solos ever imo, I’d want the producer to do whatever it takes to get that out of me be it saying hurtful things or throwing me down a flight of stairs or whatever the fuck.

Hilarious, essentially saying how lazy Kirk is and how he just wants to lay anything down Kerry King style and call it a day. So true about the value of these producers man. How many times they must have coaxed performances out of all these guys...except Malmsteen of course. Because more is more, it is simple logic.

I can't play as good as Kirk so maybe I should shut up.
I know guys on here though that can play better :yes:
But like I said in one of the other 'tallica threads -
If this is what they really want and this is truly what they are happy with, then who are we to say it sucks. :dunno:
