I still need to add the missing parts though because of a project I'm developing in my studio
So.... after watching this thread for a while, I can't for the life of me figure out why this asshat is making such a big deal about the logo's and the backing plate.
There are NO FUKKING LOGO'S or backing plate in the pics that were sent to you!
The amp was modded, so it's no longer a stock Peavey!
These amps are now made in China, so the amp is not representative of current production, even if it was stock!
Removing the backing board from the front of the amp is extremely beneficial to the operation of the amp, and is not a trivial procedure. That's a plus for you.
Why the fuk do you need the logos so bad for your "project"
What exactly IS this "project" and why are the Peavey logo's so damn important????
I just don't get it
+100.
Modded means ‘altered’
Want stock? Buy stock. When I buy I buy what is shown.
For me to think otherwise is shame on me. But I always ask questions if I think otherwise.

+3.141 you buy what you see. You are full of BS and throwing a fit.

People like you are why I hate selling over the internet.

Ok Mark, Now I’m actually upset.

You are a complete buffoon if you think I intentionally damaged the amp.

Never have I been accused of a such a thing in any of my transactions. Look at my Reverb shop and my feedback (my sig down below). Also, I’ve been a forum member for a long time (even before my current account) and bought and sold stuff all the time with zero drama. So don’t acuse me of being a “nightmare” buyer and washing your hands with half-baked conspiracy theories of me grabbing a mallet and damaging my own equipment.

On the day of receipt, I reported the damage I showcased on this thread. You dismissed my message and you focused to much on what I thought were the missing parts. Then I brought up the damage again on my next message and you just blamed the shipping and handling.

So what if it was damaged in shipping? You didn’t care at that moment to rectify anything or open a complaint with the courier. Most shipping companies insure items up to $50 minimum as a standard. But it is easier to say that I hit my amp with a mallet and framing me to look like a fraud. I do think it would’ve been a funny scene having to explain my plan to my wife in the midst of battering my own gear. Such a masterful plan!

I’m an accountant and weekend warrior recording engineer; not some hillbilly trying to rip you off with $35 bucks so I can buy some weed. I’m married and pay my taxes too.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you sent me the amp dismissing the damaged area and you are now stating that the amp was always perfect and that I damaged it on purpose? What is wrong with you?

The preamp cover is easy to remove and place back. No hassle in doing so. So your “mallet” theory goes out the window. Honestly, the pictures I took make it look worse than what it really is, but I had those pictures as a back up to illustrate to you what happened when I received it.

So Mark, I’m being honest here. I think you also think you are being honest. So let’s leave it at that. Must I repeat that I’m OK with the amp? I apologize for thinking that the amp would include the faceplate. I truly believed the pics you sent me where to illustrate the choke mod. It is not my intention to “sour” any future experience you might have with buying selling gear. So I regret deeply bringing all of this to light, but don’t accuse me of damaging my own amp, that is just low.

And for all of you that are calling me an “asshat”, I believe your reading comprehension skills are subpar at best. I made my point extremely clear and this situation is just redundant. Show is over. I’ll get the parts privately or through other means. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Interesting debate here. But when you look closely at the sellers photos, you can see that the chassis and preamp tubes cover were slightly bended before. Just look at them again with more brightness. It is not a tragedy and according to other photos the amp and headshell looks quite fine. But it was not a mint condition either, sorry. I would swallow the 35 bucks and be over it.

It's clearly visibile in the seller's pics that the tranny plate was bent before shipping. Maybe both of you should make up your mind on how to get this sorted out. It's getting ridiculous.
Calling an amp in this condition MINT is also nonsense.

It doesn't look like Bionicmark was hiding the fact that the amp was missing the logos, you never said it absolutely had to have the logos in your want ad.

I would have to ask that if the logos were so important that they be present on the amp you obviously saw they were not, why did you not ask about them?

I also think that he threw an additional foot switch. I think he showed he was a pretty fair seller and he took another $50.00 off the amp because you asked for the PP Gift deal. I don't think Ocatavio is a bad guy either in this deal but he needs to take into account if the condition of the amp met the described condition by the seller and it seems that it did by his description. If you love the sound of it and it is in the physical condition as described, you got an extra switch, $50 buck off that will pay for the logos. I bet this modded 6505 sounds quite a bit better than a stock one.

Since you did not ask after seeing the pictures I don't feel it's fair to demean the seller here as misrepresenting the amp.

Mind you, I emailed him full size/resolution photos to his email address. Not these links from imgur.

I can see the chassis and pre amp tubes cover is already damaged in your photos and is not in mint shape.

It's completely fair to say that calling it "mint" is misrepresenting the condition of the amplifier given the damaged chassis and missing parts. It's completely fair to note that buyer never asked about missing parts in the photos. (I'm willing to forgive not noticing the damage to the chassis. That's hard to sport in photos, at times, unless you're already looking for it.)

The big thing here though is that everyone is still going on about this, when the OP changed the thread title and stated a desire to just buy the parts to get it looking the way he wanted. I'm not sure why the rest of us, including myself , is going on about the actual transaction.

If I had the parts, I'd sell them to him cheap. I don't though. Someone should step up to the plate if they can help and just help the guy out.

That’s why when I sell it’s ‘used not abused in great shape’
Mint is kinda singling it out.

I remember couple years ago. I bought an amp brand new from sweet water
I took it out the box set it on my 4x12. Never moved it or touched it. Just played it.
Went to sell it. Listed as excellent condition. Guy gets it says it’s all scuffed up etc..
Wanted 100 bucks back.
Not saying that’s what the op is stating. But anytime you buy something from another guy vs a store expect it to have some wear. Even though mine went from a box. To 2 feet away to the cab. Not sure how in the hell I could scuff it lifting it 24 inches.

True story. No animals were harmed in that process.

Almost all of my gear is old and have been heavily gigged at some point, so most of mine is pretty worn. My amplifiers and cabs have ripped/repaired tolex, torn covers, non-original screws holding things together, scuffs on the chassis, marks on the faceplates, and my guitars have paint chips and dinks. I've always taken care of things, but things just happen over the years.

If I went to sell half this stuff, it wouldn't pass muster for appearance for anyone looking for mint, excellent, or similar. However, it all plays and sounds great!

I know what you mean though about buyers trying to nickel/dime after the fact. I don't really read that here - just miscommunication by two dudes who are both equally at fault and frustrated by it. (My grandma would say, "six-to-one, half-dozen, the other" to situations like this.) In the end, the amp works and sounds great, and it's pretty minor.

Yes both the buyer and seller are good guys in my book.
Just little misunderstanding.
No one died.

In the words of Steve King "it's an amp, not a Mercedes"

just play the amp and enjoy, who cares what it looks like. BTW, condition looks pretty good other than missing the front panel. If I was buying the amp I'd have asked if he had the face plate or was it taken off. Don't assume it comes with it.

The condition affects pricing though, which is mostly what I’m concerned with.

I’m ok with an amp being “not mint”. As a musician I can live with small defects or imperfections.

Unfortunately, for the amp’s intended application (project in the works), it is important that it showcases the logos on the front grill.

And yes. I messed up by assuming it came with the front grill.

I think your nitpicking. Didn't he knock 50 bucks off the price at your request and throw in a $40 footswitch for free? now your shaking him down for another $35? Really?? If this were Ebay I think you would lose your case since the pictures show the condition you received the amp. Assumptions are worthless, any questions, you should have asked. If it were me and I wanted the logo, I would just buy it and pay for it myself.

Here is pic of faceplate. If you want it I think $25 would cover my packaging, shipping, and trip to post office.

Hey man! Thank you so much!!!

I’m sending you a PM.

Not going to ask if this is mint

My journey is almost over.

I got the wood grill (thanks to Crunchtime), got the metal Peavey Badge, got the “6505” badge and most importantly I fixed the amp (sound wise) with an amp tech.

All I’m missing is the “Designed and Built in the USA” badge.

Anybody out there willing to sell me one?
