Tone-wise, I love Undertow. It's raw. It's mean. It's dark. It's evil. But Aenema is probably their best album. However, I agree that Salival is my favorite release of theirs due to the live version of Pushit, Merkaba, No Quarter, You Lied and Third Eye. Holy shit I right about cried when I heard that version of Pushit for the first time.

Is this the only disc that has these kinds of guitar solos ? I think I remember someone else other than Adam that is not in the band plays guitar on some of this stuff ?

I love Sonor kits. Porcupine Tree drummer plays a sweeeet Sonor kit, too.

Does it really even matter?
It's not like he has a mind blowing tone.
Sounds like a high gain amp being played like a high gain amp should be.
Who really cares what the hell he uses.
I'm sure if he recorded the CD's with a POD, it would still sound like Tool.
Tool to me is about the attitude and space they use.
Either way, Adam sounds like Adam.

I agree 10,000 days a was not that good. I'd bet their next one will be not that great as well. IMHO I think they've blown their creative wad as a band.

I'd say Gavin Harrison is a bit more technical than Danny Carey. But side-by-side I put them up there at the top equally. They have different styles and focuses. Comparing them is silly.

My top drummers, in no particular order are:

Danny Carey
Gavin Harrison
Carter Beauford
Dennis Chambers

To say that any of them are better than another is inane.
