He should have retired it after Wicked Sensation ... nothing they have released since then has even come close being half as good. In fact I can't figure out why he didn't retire the name as soon as his first record contract ended given he always said he didn't want his name in a band name after the whole Dokken thing

The follow up album was pretty solid even if the tone was a little softer. That said I think you hit it, why not call his band " Wicked Sensation"? It is the most memorable album after all....

The soy boy should name his band after the "second album" and stop being a wuss.

We all need to get this post slightly back on track about the name change and avoid "liberal" and "right-wing", etc. titles as we are slowly moving into a political post territory.

I have no problem with all of us believing what we believe but we all come here so we can get away from that stuff. We are all a third party of guitarists that spend too much money!!! :)

Great post and talking point but let's avoid getting on each other

You are right, I deleted my post. No sense in arguing with brainwashed weirdos.

I don't think you needed to delete it, I just felt like we were all moving into murky territory. LOL!

I was having flashbacks of Harmony Central days. Everyone does pretty good here on RT but I know how quickly things can spin out of control. I think it is great that we all have our own views and opinions and think it is healthy when people can talk about stuff like that. Here on the forum though, probably better to stick to us talking about playing with our G-strings.

I have tried to like Robert Mason as a vocalist but just can't for some reason ... I kind of like "the End Machine" but can't listen to it to often because of Robert

Don Dokken’s take...

Don Dokken has commented on George Lynch's decision to retire the LYNCH MOB band name. Earlier in the week, Lynch announced that he was ending LYNCH MOB, apparently due to the racial insensitivity of the band name, saying he will no longer record or perform under that moniker. George told Audio Ink Radio: "The [band] name itself, of course, has always been problematic, and now it's inexcusable to keep the name. So, things have just sort of all conspired. A lot of different events triangulated to this point where it just makes sense on every single level to let it go and wrap it up with a nice neat bow and move on." Lynch clarified that he will continue to make music and perform, but won't do so under the LYNCH MOB name. "I'm not going to tour anymore with that name or put out any more records with that name," he said. "I'll probably still play with some of the same people. We'll just call it something else." Asked in a new interview with Marci Wiser of the 95.5 KLOS radio station about his former DOKKEN bandmate George's decision to put LYNCH MOB to rest, Don said (hear audio below): "Yeah, they're gonna drop [the name] because the whole planet has to be socially correct now… The flag's gone, the rebel flag's gone now and all that, and I guess they think that LYNCH MOB means hanging blacks. So they're gonna drop it." "Wicked Sensation Reimagined", a reworking of LYNCH MOB's 1990 debut album, will arrive on August 28 via Rat Pak Records. The LP features Lynch and original singer Oni Logan, backed by the rhythm section of bassist Robbie Crane and drummer Brian Tichy. "Wicked Sensation Reimagined" was produced by LYNCH MOB and Brian Tichy and mixed/mastered by Chris "The Wizard" Collier. Logan first hooked up with LYNCH MOB in 1990, but exited the group after the release of its first album, only to rejoin the outfit in the late 2000s. Logan is featured on five of LYNCH MOB's eight albums, including "Wicked Sensation", as well as 2009's "Smoke And Mirrors", 2014's "Sun Red Sun", 2015's "Rebel" and 2017's "The Brotherhood".

Actually I get why they are putting out that "Wicked Sensation - RE - Imagined" now .. having heard 2 songs off it George is not only dropping the name but he has also completely MURDER the only good songs they did just to make sure no one has any interest in them any more

George can get a pat on the back and proudly wear his Good Guy badge now that he's submitted and knelt at the altar of wokeness. What a crock, the only way all of this is going to stop is when people simply throw a middle finger up, tell the herd to fuck-off, and turn their back to this ridiculousness where anything can be found to be 'racist" if gazed at long enough.

Sadly, he doesn't even have a racist slant to his songs that I'm aware of.

If you ask people on the street, 98% of them won't even know who George Lynch/Lynch Mob is.

So by him doing this, he is actually planting a seed in those minds that hey, maybe this guy is racist.:poke:

Honestly, I guess it is a damned if you do/damned if you don't kinda thing. It does cower to the thin skinned market.

In the big scheme Dokken almost made it bigtime with mtv Under lock and key but didn't quite become universal or anything like that, same with lynch mob. they had a good run.

With the current state of people being offended and not being able to take (or make) a joke out of things, this was bound to happen. George Lynch is a cool guy, I know him. He really didn't have a choice in this decision, it's just the way things are in the world.

What a crock of BS. Of course he had a choice. He's a grown man, right? Who was speaking out against it that he felt so forced to do it? Just "the way things are in the world". What a weak mindset and way of thinking.

I agree. He can either just make the decision himself and let everyone know that HE decided to do it or have some people that have never even heard his music, smear his name, etc. Not worth it. The guy is a legend to all of us who grew up with his music. He could call his band "We suck, don't buy our music" and if I saw his name on it, I'd buy it. I like everything he has done, Dokken, Lynch Mob, KXM, collaborations with people, etc.

At the end of the day, it is just a name. People get too wrapped up around this stuff. I'm not saying it doesn't suck and is stupid. Just need to pick your battles. He doesn't owe anyone a thing.
