..The economy is actually doing fine..

I've got a couple of nice guitars to move as well, but I dread listing them now and dealing with the BS , so Unless I absolutely "need" to sell something, I'm just going to hang on until the economy gets back on track. Puts a stall on my buying which sucks but I really don't "need" anything right now.

Need and want... Well now those are entirely different things to a gear addict.

Tell me about it... I can't even look at a half stack without my back acting up so I got rid of my 4x12s and went with low wattage heads w/1x12 cabs (no combos, are you kidding me?). Oh wait, wrong forum.
I actually thought this was the point of the thread lol. Gear is too heavy now ? Lol I miss read

I only go to Reverb if it’s sat for months locally, and I won’t sell anything large like an amp on there anymore. I don’t mind paying for a service usually but their fees have gotten insane. I’ve been moving stuff locally decently well though.

I do have an LP that I might move and I have pretty much accepted the fact that most likely it will be some type of trade deal. Which is fine for me at the moment. I have an empty shelf waiting for an amp or I could use a different type of guitar. LP heavy at the moment.

One thing I see a lot is people putting in their ad what the instrument costs new currently, and it is pretty nuts how quickly new prices have increased in the last couple years. But what I see is shit like people trying to get $1k for 3-5 year old korean made Schecters (what they probably cost new at that time) because “now they’re making them in Indonesia for the same price or more!” and this inflation has happened so quickly I don’t think many people are willing to accept that.

I suspect this is a good portion of it. Inflation has kicked up and everyone is feeling it in necessities. It makes us less willing to buying another guitar/amp with that money. Lots of us are getting cost-of-living adjustments, but those lag costs and make everything a bit uncertain at the moment. Add that to the fact that the used market was already inflated, and no surprise that it's coming down.

I'm mostly kicking myself because I have a bunch of stuff to get rid of. It's been here for years, much of it not even used in a decade or more, and I've just been too lazy to list it. I should have done it while prices were up and gotten some cash out of it. I'll probably just shove it all back in a closet somewhere and forget about it again.

I won't list an item if there are many like it listed for about the same price or less than I want for it. I bought a part for my bike on eBay a year or two ago and just got around to installing last weekend. Turns out the fastener I thought was broken was not, so I don't need that part anymore. I think I paid $150 for it. There was an identical one on eBay last weekend for $16 with free shipping. WTF? So I saved it to my watchlist, just checked and it's long gone. Only other one on there in the same color now is $149 and is all scratched up. So now it's time to list mine, which is in new condition.

I have had my charvel LSX-1 made in japan up for sale for a month and a half here local classifieds and no bites. My price is low too. My price covers the pickups and floyd pretty much lol

I just sold a bunch of pedals on CL. I sold a brand new Boss DS-1 for 20 bucks. There were about 5 other listings for the same pedal but in worst shape asking 40 -50 bucks.

You have to sell for dirt cheap or people will buy used gear on line w/ free shipping.
I'd rather buy a used pedal with free shipping than pay the same price and have to drive into the crazy city or waste gas to meet someone.

There's a post on my local CL for a used late 70's MXR distortion +. The guy was asking 200 dollars. He lowered the price to 160 months ago and it still posted.
I feel like telling the guy that if he wants to actually sell it, list it for 100 bucks or best offer. if he gets 80, he did good. LOL

I just sold an EBMM Axis for top dollar less than five days from listing it on Reverb, but it was a real gem and the buyer had money to burn - perfect kind of sale. I have a Friedman DS combo I want to sell, but shipping is just too much to deal with on that size of an amp. No bites locally at all and there are already a few on Reverb who are willing to ship. I'll have to wait those out before I list.

The economy is doing fine, and so is the migrant situation and the cost of housing. Holy fucking shit weed made me HAF somehow lol. This isnt the same gear flipping metropolis it was a couple years ago. Will it come back? When a sheet of fucking plywood is a 150 bucks, by all means a piece of maple on a mahogany guitar is worth 1500 made over seas. Here it's getting north of 3500 new. I see these used prs guitars on FB for 5k. Because its flamed it's worth 5k lol. I guess somehow the craftsmanship got almost 2x better than it was previously? It's pretty much over until something gives. Maybe if the cost of wood returns to planet earth it could reflect somewhat. Hard to say. Usually no Corp is going to go backwards with cost. I'm glad I was able to score a few guitars and amps before Covid and the excues being used to fuck everyone over became accepted. Labor and material shortages, and now inflation. I'm no eco major, by far.. we have a shortage yet supply and demand drive cost up we have no supply, however if your willing to pay 3x what it cost 19 months ago we got you covered. And reverb, could they hurry and belly up. Not a fan since they got all corporate america and non gear friendly

I have a couple guitars I want to list but just dread doing it. I'm trying to be an adult though and not turn my basement into a music store...
Yeah, over the last couple months, I've failed at being an adult! (Which kind of led me to this forum actually!)
