Haha that’s great!
Figures I make a comment about Hawaiian Aquaman and here you are being Hawaiian.

Cab does look great.

I’ll show myself out now.
here is another reason why i own that cab

mahalo is right!! you’re almost paying that much just to ship a 4x12 to HI so it was a no brainer. it came loaded with 2x warehouse ET-65s and 2x Invaders 50s in an X and after demoing it at the store with a jtm45 and a soldano it passed the test.

i swapped a gh30 in there for a while and it sounded good, but it needs a pair of something matching up top to make it work as i want. so i went back to original.

So I'm a dodo brain. The amp is a Simul-class, but its wired all pentode. So, I'm wondering what the difference is from a technical standpoint? Is it the OT or the PT feeds that are different, or ???

I remember studying this sometime ago, but I don't remember...

Check out this reamp A/B demo I did of before / after my III green got the + mod. Very subtle on the mic, and a bit smoother & more pleasing in the room.

What about III++?

They forced you to buy it!
It really did choose you!

Awesome price for what looks like ply?

The greens have a different OT from the previous MKIII’s. It’s optimized for pentode operation. Same one used in the early Mark IV I think.

I have a green strip non-simil too, great amp.
I recommend trying out a c30 cap to smooth out a bit of the top end on the lead channel. I put a 1n c30 cap on a switch with the R2 mod and it's excellent.

What about III++?
I've only had one III++, but at least in that case the ++ took it too far and the amp lost its feels. By comparison the three III+ I've had were all my favorite out of the nine IIIs I've had. So, I stopped doing III++.

This Green III+ may be the best Mark I've had in the live (thrash metal) band mix, followed closely by the IVb, and with the IIC+ farther back on the list.

Simul amp OT numbers from my records-
  • IIC+ SC152019B
  • III green 562004
  • IVb 562004
Unfortunately I don't have OT photos of the other blue, red & black stripe Simul amps I've had. Maybe someone else does.
Yup that's right, but since the green stripe was made from about '89 to '97 I think it came with a different OT early in production, then used the same OT as the Mark IV's. So possibly 3 different OT's during it's entire production.

really appreciate your knowledge, comparison clips, and cataloging the different attributes of these amps!

It came in and sounds as it should. It does have the Simul-class 562003 output transformer. It was converted to all pentode and added a bias adjustment pot by a previous tech. But it needs a cap job. It still has what appears to be the original caps...

The 5622003 output transformer is the same as the 2C+ and is rated for a full 100 watts. I'm looking for a transformer wiring diagram so I can confirm it is wired correctly...

:yes: :yes: :yes: :yes: :yes:

Early Greens have a different OT and sound superior to my ears... after owning 6 Green MK3++s.

I love the harshness these highs can do . Gets a real tone unlike I today

This.

A lot of amps can’t bring the brightness because it excites instability. Layout and design have to BOTH be on point to bring the top end detail.

The added C30 cap (which is stock on the Red stripe) is like throwing a blanket over your cab. It kills the useable high end which is one of the best parts of these amps.

Want dark distant muffled tones… buy a Diezel or Bogner.

Meh I dunno, worked well in my green stripe and I like bright. 1n is still mild and nowhere near dark, just a slight roll off in the ice pick territory.
Mine's on a pull-switch on the R2 volume, no one is forced to choose.
