Racks never died, it just became more common to see a fullsize head mounted with a bunch of outboard gear. It's still the safest and most efficient way for a touring band to move their equipment around.

Who needs fake cones,i think this thread gave everybody wood.
However i still don't understand some of these rigs,all the FX you would think the natural tone of the amp

When you run them W/D, or W/D/W and use a mixer-- you don't compromise the original guitar to amp tone, because it doesn't go through any AD/DA conversion.

The way my rig is setup:

I can run:

Mono
Dual mono W/D
Stereo w/ the option to route the dry signal into the cabs in parallel to the wet signal.
W/D/W
WD/D/WD
D/D/D
W/W/W

I was a rack guy for 80% of my time playing but thanks to advances in technology, I can enjoy the benefits of MIDI powered rigs in the traditional head and pedalboard setup which I prefer. In the end, to each his own but I personally have no need for bulky racks and can accomplish alot of the same things without. Dont get me wrong, I think that theyre cool but they just arent for me anymore as Ive learned to do what I need without them..
