Mesa treated Fluff super unfairly imo

I have nothing against Ryan. Known him since the early Boogie Board days and long before he started doing content. He’s a good dude.

That said, I think everyone should heed the advice my grandmother gave me when I was a kid:

“It takes more effort to run your mouth than it does to keep it shut, so save your energy.”

In other words, if a company is sponsoring someone, affiliated with them, etc…then it’s a best practice to keep it high level. You should never be speaking about “he said, she said” things that contradict public stances provided by those companies, or talking publicly about their inner workings. Being invited to an inner circle is a privilege. Don’t shit where you eat, and don’t bring drama to the circle.

It’ll blow over with time, and amends will likely be made one day, but I’m sure there were lessons learned on both sides from that.

Exactly this.

I like Fluff. I remember having conversations before he was on YouTube.
Right, he was here probably long before a lot of other people and is cool af. Very informative and i always liked his videos.

Not surprised what happened. Gibson is a large corporation and they're all the same. With that said unless he did sign an NDA then he did nothing wrong imo.

Someone bigger than fluff should out Gibson publicity to show how they treat their "artists"

I’m told it’s common practice for big corporations, but keeping the previous owner around for the “transition” never made sense to me, especially with a bigger company buying a smaller company. I’ve seen a couple small local businesses try it and all it lead to was the previous owner still thinking he’s the boss running things, won’t go away, heads start butting and then he basically had to be told to fuck off. I’m gonna guess something similar probably happened

yeah ..... the more I think of it .... He probably should have known to keep the " laundry " in the basket ... whether someone told him to or not ...

and no matter what anyone thinks .... it has to suck losing any kind of endorsements from two of the biggest names in Music Gear

I don't know anything about him other than Gibson must of thrown him a much bigger paycheck than Norm was giving him ....I actually liked Mark in the Norm vids he was doing

MA is drunk on orange power like someone else.
Thing about rot is it decays from the inside out til you got nothing.
Henry got into Chapter 11 cuz he took the company down too many non guitar ventures.
Here it is not too long later and Gibson has done the same damn thing.
Soon as i heard Gibb bought Mesa i sold all my Boogies having known all too well the fate that awaits the brand.
Hopelessly Fucked.

For what it's worth, it's not like they were sending him new heads and allowing him to keep them. This just means they won't work with him in a "pre-release mode". So you do have an opportunity cost of lost views of not being "first!" with a video but he could source it some other way if he really wanted to cover it and get the views. Knowing Ryan, I'm betting he won't want to because why help them at all?
That's a bummer to love a brand as much as he does and get slapped by the new owners but he should have known that with his high profile, they were going to find out. It's possible that he could get Sweetwater to sponsor the video and send him one to demo, but that could earn them the wrath of Gibson.
BTW - I'm partnered with zZounds and not only do their affiliate links pay about double what Sweetwater does, I have the full run of the catalogue. Sweetwater would send me a list of products/companies that no one wants to make videos about, because my channel is small. I felt like the beginning of Animal House where I'm a legacy and trying to pledge the frat but they keep putting me in that side room with all the dorks.

Just in case anyone is wondering. I pull on average about $200 a month from four videos a month on YouTube so be envious. Especially the person who doesn't like people who earn income on YT..😇

Spilling major confidential, behind the scenes information without expressed permission, and then NOT expecting some kind of retaliatory action? Either this guy is incredibly stupid or he knew exactly what he was doing. Either scenario doesn’t bode well for his character.

Wow. I have a complete opposite take. That is, you can trust him... that he's not a bought & paid for shill, like most of the rest.

Yeah but SW is gonna get it to me on time & on budget. Can;t say the same bout Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Speaking from experience. Ive used SW over 15 years.
I treat everyone the same til they give me a reason to treat them different.

I used to like Thorn and do as a person but for gear he's so heavily invested with companies i don't even pay attention anymore.

Bro could’ve used a burner account and avoided all that. Hindsight is 20/20.

I don’t care either way. All the guys that talk yap all day in their videos and play a little bit somewhere in the middle should all be banned. If I fast forward your video and stop it randomly and you’re still talking, that’s a problem.

Maybe the companies are invested in him because he does good reviews?? If someone does an accurate review, I’m listening to the amp and making up my own mind on what I think, not listening to whatever smoke they are blowing up my ass, which I really don’t hear many of them doing anyway?? Glenn, who everyone hates bashes gear relentlessly all the time. Ola bashes shit in a totally polite and entertaining way.

Same, I'm not there to hear yapping....Unless it's Glenn Fricker. That is the sole reason to watch his videos but at least each youtuber has their own format which you already know immediately where to fast forward to if you've seen more than a few of their vids.

I like Leon Todd's style of bashing. Releases a detailed review of the Boss SDE-3000EVH then gets on the internet forums and says "It's a great unit but there's nothing special about it that can't be replicated with a Fractal Delay Block".
