Mesa treated Fluff super unfairly imo

It's funny how this forum in particular turns on any regular who goes out and makes a buck on a YouTube.

Sucks for Fluff. I love Mesa amps but the firing of Randall has been a sore issue, I'm reluctant to buy anything new until I see forward progress under Gibson' rule... unlikely to happen though.
Tbh I couldn't care less about Gibson.

To me when I think of Gibson I think of Slash (who I've always loved) not fluff.

As far as the acquisition of Mesa, cool. I've had mark series amps and they're killer. I may have even heard a recto or 2 that sounded good but otherwise I don't care much about their guitars or their amps and stuff like this makes me care about them even less.

I stand by my first comment here but I'm curious was this public information before Fluff said something? I assume it was. If not and without an NDA Gibson should have kept their mouths shut.

My father HATED beavis and butthead when i was a kid, not because kids were watching and cutting down telephone poles or playing frog baseball, or it just wasnt funny, he just couldnt handle that one dude was making a ton of money off something as easy to do in his eyes as making a stupid cartoon, it literally drove him bat shit crazy the same way "clickbait titles" or a stupid face in the thumbnail does for many here. i gotta believe dudes just cant take average guitar players are getting paid and becoming internet famous from reviewing gear they are getting sent to them because of their success, i just cant see how something as trivial as the title of a video setting people off the way it does.

The reason it's annoying if not outright offensive is because it's so obviously manipulative. We're talking Idiocracy levels obvious, which seems to be common denominator these days. I'm glad to know my RT brethren can see it!

I copy paste Fluff statement on the gear page with a click bate title for entertainment and amusement. Steve Fryette even complimented me on my balls to buck the machine. He understood what I had done and why. It got big fast. Sometimes threads just take a life of their own and just get big fast. I deleted the copy paste part the next day when I saw he removed it and changed the title. Out of respect for Ryan. Gibson did a public statement with a few of the magazines pretending they didn't fire him. I then realized just how small this entire industry actually is. It is made out of a lot less people than you think.

I started the thread out of respect for Randall. I have had conversations with him since 1981. I have sat down and talked gear for hours face to face. Given Mesa feedback on gear over the years. Some of the Triaxis and Mark IV came from my feedback, etc.

I understand Gibson is running a business. But I see Randal as a friend of mine. He spent his life creating amps and more than that the sounds.

I grew up in Detroit and knew people that worked at Gibson when they were still in Kalamazoo.

Sucks how it effected Ryan and Randall. Sucks that Gibson is just based on a few egos and finances. But in prescriptive none of it is exactly a surprise...c'est la vie.

Agreed. And as for being manipulative; is the YouTube gear shilling really that different than the guitar gear reviews in the magazines of 80's, 90's through early 00's?

It's not the subtle promotion of the gear in the form of a "review" that I'm objecting to. It's the blatant gaming of YouTube algos and attempt on your attention. It's not the biggest deal, just in keeping with the slow degradation of our culture a la Idiocracy. If it doesn't bother you, more power to you!

Soon after the initial post, I read accusations of him posting that announcement to monetize it. How would that even work, monetizing a social media statement like that? The only way I can think of is that the statement would have led the curious to his YT channel.
