Wanted to post about this, after reading the last EB forum thread on here. I hardly ever frequent the EB forum, as I'm not a fan of what goes on there. But, I have been taken a couple of peeks out of curiousity about the NAMM products that are being released.....specifically, the new John Petrucci guitar, which turned out to be nothing big anyways. So, I've been watching the JP12 "teaser" thread that Sterling Ball started himself, which was limited to a couple of partial pics with no info....you know, just something to stroke Sterling's HUGE ego.....getting 11 pages of inquring forumites sucking at his kneecaps. Well, at some point, a member (evidently, a long standing member) whose actual name is "Glenn", accessed Sterling's photobucket page and I assume, posted some other pics of the JP12 guitar....which I assume were deleted thereafter, judging by Sterling's response, which was: "glenn did you hack my photobucket".....to which Glenn replied: "Nope, I wouldn't say hacked as more viewed and distributed. Everyone was drooling, they look great they weren't locked. Thanx for the pics they really look good, love the colors"....which is a post that Glenn later deleted evidently, as I know longer see it anymore...but, is still listed in a quote under somebody elses post. Anyways, here are the post-by-post reactions as old man Sterling - who obviously doesn't know shit about the internet, lays into this forum member with typical "Sterling attitude", just because Glenn ruined his fun.....man, I can't stand that asshole.

Here is the link to the thread: http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-g ... hahah.html

Sterling Ball: "glenn did you hack my photobucket?"

[Glenn's response: "Nope, I wouldn't say hacked as more viewed and distributed. Everyone was drooling, they look great they weren't locked. Thanx for the pics they really look good, love the colors." - this response no longer exists due to deletion]

Sterling Ball: "I want to stay on topic but I am rip**** mad and feel violated. Glenn you have no business posting things from an account of mine. IT was locked but somehow photobucket updated it and there is a window for people (now closed) to access. Let me repeat....Digging through my private photo album in the first place is really unacceptable to me and then to decide to post pics that I chose not top is inexcusable. Glenn...I have bought you a meal when I was in your town...my town too. i didn't deserve it and your response is really bad. How creepy do people have to get here...I give of myself 7 days and week and it is not enough....."

[Glenn's response: ??? Not sure, he must of deleted it.]

Sterling Ball: "Enough...but why do you think its ok to even look into something like that and then decide that you will spread what you find on the web? They were my shots and if I wanted them posted I would. Really gives me the creeps....."

Glenn: "Again sorry it won't happen again."

Sterling Ball -----------------> complete and utter PRICK. :jerkit:

Seems to me that Sterling has a right to be upset. What is the reason you felt the need to run over here and call him a prick? There seems to be a lot of butt hurt over here regarding EBMM for some reason.

Because,....I felt like it. Besides, the man is a PRICK. :)

I don't get the anger based on this anectdote. It's marketing 101- not ego- to release limited pics and info and trickle it in a little at a time to generate buzz prior to a p[roduct release. Hacking an account/pics is criminal. Perhaps you had some bad history IDK, but the prick in this story is not Sterling

where is steve and his butthurt form, a request for submission must be made.

i think you're the one stirring the pot big guy. Step back from the keyboard and take a breather. It is his company, by the way.

FWIW the new JP's are excellent and well welcomed, all JPX's will be released with SS frets now, and the new models have larger frets on them. the new paint jobs look great. nothing but an improvement for an already great guitar IMHO - i wish i had the kind of cash they are advertising to own one. Ill settle for a used 1527 instead.

the only prick is the one who hacked sterling's account. No matter what he has said in the past, that is an act of a complete douchebag. It's violation of privacy and i think that there are some laws against it....so i can see no sterling's drama here.

Who was it who was banned from that forum after talking about Eddie screwing Ball's wife? That whole thing cracked me up.

I have to agree with Tonelover here. Sterling may or may not be a prick, but based on the transcript here, I am going with NOT.

I thought it was you. I'm laughing so loud right now the kid just came in and asked me what was going on.

Tone Zone, I don't know jack about Sterling Ball, but He's not running around spreading crap about YOU! It appears you had nothing to do with this situation. Your actions are pretty prickstyle!

It doesn't sound like the guy "hacked" into Sterling's photobucket account. Can't you access the account and other pics set to public just by clicking on the pic in the thread? I don't think this is hacking but the mistake of the photobucket account holder (Sterling) not making the other pics private. However, the guy shouldn't have taken it upon himself to post the other pics on a public forum. This was just wrong.

Prick or not, Sterling has a right to be pissed. Anybody with a room temperature IQ could ascertain that if he hadn't posted those pics himself, he didn't want them posted yet. "Glenn" obviously was more concerned with being able to say "look at me" by being the first to post somebody else's private pics...douchebag move IMO.

Exactly. That's what I mean....this guy didn't "hack" into his account, dumbass Sterling just had them available to the public, while not realizing it. "Glenn", obviously didn't do this with malice....he was just excited about the new products. Besides, it wasn't some state secret info....they're being released at NAMM this week anyways. I just thought Sterling's response was over the top, when it was him that "left the gate open." But, the rest of you go on thinking whatever you want......I've come to learn a lot about the man over the years, I know the way he is. And, I guarantee that many who have seen this know where I am coming from.

He has a right to upset, but he's wayyyy overreacting. Plus, should've locked his Photobucket... it's his mistake. It's only some pictures... he should laugh about it and take better care of what he distributes online. He's a prick.

That's total bullshit. If I leave my front door unlocked it doesn't give somebody the right to come in and take my stuff. They were Sterling's pics and he hadn't shared them yet...this Glenn comes off as an attention whore who stole Sterling's thunder. I'd be pissed too.

That's just it,...we're not talking about the front door to someone's house....we're talking about photobucket. That's the way photobucket works. Pics are MEANT to be shared by the general public....that is, unless you do not want them to be shared, which is why they give you the option to lock them. Otherwise, they are out for everyone to see. Have you even been to photobucket? Personally, I'm glad he stole his thunder! You obviously think different.....you're entitled to you opinion.

Yeah, I have a photobucket account. I guess I look at it like those pics are there for people to see (in Sterling's case he screwed up as he actually didn't want others to even see them) but not to take and use eleswhere without the owner's permission.

Why would you be glad somebody stole his thunder? Just a personal dislike of the dude?
