My Crappy Experience with Kiesel Guitars

The fact that they would not refund your deposit on a non custom order 24 hrs later is completely ludicrous since the guitars are being built to the limited run specs they can resell it to anyone. They must be hurting for orders and trying to lock people in.

You should call your CC company got through the entire scenario like you did here, send them the audio and they should side with you and chargeback your $600.00 to Kiesel because this is almost fraud.

Haven't people learned over all the debacles in the past? Unless you know exactly who you are dealing with... NO DEPOSITS if there is no product to sell. If you do it could go south just like this guy.

I have learned the hard way myself and while I understand that is how it is these days. Although I absolutely dislike the "pre order" or build to order methods, that is how a lot of smaller companies operate.

Kiesel I guess is not a small company. They seem to be a "semi" custom company who portrays themselves as a custom shop with low prices.

I will admit the price to spec ratio seems very nice with them but after all these issues....No thanks.

It is a scary thing having your money tied up and to be at the mercy of someone like that. I would give certain people a chance and I have dealt with/know of companies that I would have absolutely zero issues with giving my money upfront but Kiesel is not one of them.

I’ll stick with Suhr and Tom Anderson who imo make the best guitars and have the best customer service.

Good luck I hope it works out for you with your cc company.

What was the total price of this guitar?

Even if Kiesel’s policy is that strict, seems like a silly thing to do to a long-time customer. They force one sale that could lose them multiple future sales?

I've never known Carvin/Kiesel to allow anybody to "change" an order, after placing it. They clearly state it in their ordering policies.

Also, I don't understand why people dispute "unauthorized" purchases with their CC company, when they, in fact placed the order? I can understand $300/vs. $600, however.

I also know, for a fact, they don't allow you to cancel a build, either. I believe there's probably more to the story here. These threads are rampant, even more so at TGP, where people kick and scream about not getting their way, when their way clearly breaks store policy that's clearly stated in black and white.

Sooner or later, companies get tired of customers dictating how they run their business. Sure, they can dictate what sells, but not their policies. There's a difference between offering great Customer Service, and refusing to deal with bullies with a credit card.

Not defending Kiesel here but those guitars are also double the price on average. Anderson anyway.

Hearing this makes me want to sell my Kiesels. Out of my collection, they are my least favorite, least desirable. I'm gassin' for a Tom Anderson anyways.....I should probably just off load them and put in an order with Anderson. Old Jeff is just running that company straight into the ground isn't he?

I'm calling BS on this OP.

Not saying it couldn't (or even didn't) happen. But the way it's presented raises red flags. This poster joins Rig-Talk TODAY for the sole purpose of shit talking a guitar builder? It's his first and only post here (as of my writing). And he chooses as his forum handle the name of the builder he hates so much?

Sorry, I don't buy it. Something smells off here.

I'm with you. This is B.S...

I also find it funny that OP bought several guitars from them, but "didn't know" this, and "didn't know that". It's also funny that he knew nothing about a Facebook page, yet 2 minutes in, he mentioned buying the guitar based on A FACEBOOK PAGE POST. Also makes a second reference to being on Facebook in addition to, but plays stupid. OP is a douche. Sounds like buyer's remorse here, and now he's whining that he can't get his way, even though his way is against their policies.

It's the old saying.. "Ignorance is no excuse". I hope his CC company sides with Kiesel.

What were the changes you wanted to make to the original order? I'm guessing the guitar only comes standard spec?

Honestly, I dont remember 100%. I think I wanted to add a floyd rose and change the headstock.

Wow.

One thing, I don't understand why you can't get your money back through your CC company? Unauthorized Transaction. End of story.
Good luck, this is the 3rd time I've read about issues with them.

I am trying. So far credit card company has not refunded me.

Is there any representation from Kiesel on this forum or TGP? Business aside, Jeff seems like a pretty decent guy.

I really thought Jeff was a good guy too, but this proves to me he is on a power trip and can be totally nasty!

How do you let go of a long time customer who has bought many guitars?

We are talking about $600 Bucks!

Your choice of a user name is a bit perplexing given this thread....

Never heard a single bad thing about TA. While bad experiences with Kiesel are pretty much everywhere, that's why rant thread are nothing extraordinary

What I wrote is 100% the truth! Listen to the audio clip!

You are right, I joined this forum to mainly post about this. But now that I see how cool most of the people are, I am really liking it and plan on staying.

I promise you I am not BSing. I have no reaso too waste my time.
