I heard some clips of the upcoming album. Geez, is this really the same band that recorded Warning, Rage For Order and Mindcrime? Holy shit. I mean, I understand growing and evolving as a band but this is nothing like the band I remember. It really sucks. I remember reading not too long ago where the band members were saying this is music that is good for listening to with iPods, and people on the go. I guess that is translation for "sucky".

RIP Queensryche. Time to call it a day.

You could have said this 20 years ago. After Empire it's been a steady downhill ride IMHO. Oh well, still love everything up to Empire and they wer eone of the best prog metal bands up to that point.

After DeGarmo quit the band. . . it was tough for them. He was the catalyst of that band.

The transition to suck happened almost 20 years ago imo.

And speaking of Geoff Tate..............when did he start looking like a Columbian drug lord? :D

YUp, agreed, I can't listen to them anymore, Empire the last good CD and after DeGarmo's departure, it went downhill.

Yup... agreed to all points. QR used to be my favorite metal band bar-none. From their EP, through The Warning, Rage For Order, Mindcrime, and Empires I was just in awe of them. I remember flying out to Seattle after Empire came out, listening to the CD while I was driving the highway out of Sea-Tac, and thinking "wow... I'm driving on a stretch of road that Queensryche has actually been on"... LOL!

And it's just been a HUGE disappointment ever since then. Chris did a couple of albums after Empires, so it's not like he was completely blame-free. But at least he was smart enough to get-out before they completely tanked. NO question that it was him who was responsible for their great songwiriting. Wilton hasn't done jack. I actually did like a couple of tunes on Q2K and I REALLY liked Scott and Kelly's side project, Slave to the System (with Damon Johnson of Brother Cane -- one of my favorite artists of the past 20 years). But I haven't bought the past several QR albums. I just listen to clips to see if they're worth buying and they aren't. Geoff has become a bit full of himself and just rambles.

Luckily for me, there have been a few bands since that I was able to get into enough to ease the pain of an MIA QR. My favorite is Kamelot. Their Black Halo, Epica, and Karma albums remind me of QR in their heyday and console me for what has been lost. Too bad their era is likely over too now though... as their frontman Roy Kahn recently left the band. :(

He's been such a lost goofball for so long now. He's actually starting to look like his own Dr. X character!

Empire was the last album of theirs I thought was good. I wasn't crazy about anything after that but usually there were at least a couple of good spots on each album. This is just depressing.

Wow... sounds like Pearl Jam post Dave Abbruzzese... really bad.

when he started dying his facial hair...

why do older dudes do that? You're not fooling anybody, not even yourself really.lol.

I thought "Promise Land" was their last decent effort. It was a big departure from Empire but the songs were really well written and catchy. After that, the only song I thought they put out that was decent was "Sign of the Times" off HINF. Nothing since unfortunately. That said, I'll always have a special place in my heart for them as they really produced some epic music throughout their tenure.

Wow, that sounds like it could be on the soundtrack to Over The Top.

I did always dig "I Am I", "Bridge" and the title track off that album. Unfortunately, as the albums wore-on there were less and less numbers of tracks that I even bothered to listen to more than a time or two. Tribe was probably the last one I bought... or maybe Mindcrime II. Either way... I think that I sort-of liked one track off of each of those. Talk about making you pissed that you wasted $15 on a CD.

Geez... no kiddin. [yawn]

For all the slagging I've been doing of them in the post-DeGarmo era... I still "root" for them to put-out an album that drops my jaw. But it seems that like so many other bands... once that magic is gone... it's GONE. I don't even like hearing Geoff's voice any more. He used to be GOD in a vocal sense to me. But now his vocals are so-so and his lyrics tired, preachy, and COMPLETELY forgettable.

Queensryche have released an album since 'Empire'?....... news to me!
