NAD: Lenz High Octane (Lenz Is Legit)

  • Thread starter Thread starter braintheory
  • Start date Start date
I have a 79 JMP100 w/Octane Mod.
I saved a perfectly matched quad of SED 34’s when the stock JJ’s burn up.

I have been shouting Lenz Amps from Marshall stacks as once day1 of playing/hearing my Hot Chili which is like THE perfect familiar Marshall place we all grew up hearing and love.
Just a perfect 70’s Marshall flavor of the vibe with a solid effects loop WITH F’N Send & Return adjusters.
All the push pulls are so incredibly useful.
There feel is “juicy tight”
Extremely great songwriter amps.
Just start playing and you find out immediately by gettin’ lost in creativity.

The Ictane Mod is THE sound of AIC Facelift AND Dirt, with no fussing..
You want RTL??, the Sad But True monster mutes?
You can literally do all that with your experience and hands..before dialing it in to nail those tones.
Best f’n lead sound ever too man.
I’ve had the Bot. Hili & Octane for over a year now.
-I’ll sell my bits before I sell the Lenz’s.
I also have a Evil Twin Reverb
(early 70’s TR head, with the monstrous transformer ) that Eddy rebuilt &
hooked up so large that’s ready for shipping.
Dude that thing.. is RAD.

Congrats on that dime piece of all dime pieces homie!.
and I bet your classical flurries of notes have an added feel that you can manipulate into magic..
Word🤘🏻.
Welcome the fuck back, brother

Great to see you back!! And thank you!! Lenz is Legit!! You were right!! To be perfectly honest his clips never blew me away really, but I loved this amp on the first chord I played. Right now it’s one of my most enjoyable amps to play, but I am a huge recto fan and I don’t play anything remotely classical on it. This is sort of like my temporary escape from that world haha. I try to be the complete opposite type of player when I play electric

I know you like the OG “boutique” gear.,
There’s more ‘tone factoids’
on the internet then actual tones.

I’ve had many of the OG boutiq’ers.
Kingsley Tone Baron was a champion in
that world of “boutique” amplifiers
You dig Alessandro’, -agreed.
The dopest thing he made was guitar pentomiters.
He used to make a really good pots/caps kit
like Dr Vintage.
Been through the Budotone/Two Rock extravaganza also.

I think it’s the coupled chemistry of Lenzamps
is so rad is you’ve got Eddy whom works his tail off man!!
He creates a lot of different products and is always workin m the changes.
Dude can get around on the fretboard ,
& has herds of “working common sense”
His father was seasoned in electronics and brought him up in it.
Coupled with Siggy,, who’s a cool f’n dude.
I called him and we talked for a while.
He knows a lot about all the high gain boutique amps and all the stock Sweetwater hero’s.
Siggy’s into ZZTop heavy blues type stuff
& Eddy’s the Slash sorta Holmes/Lynchy dude.
Eddy’s been modding for years now and
has found his prime.

If Larry & Cameron had a son=Lenz.

I’ve tried Kingsley’s pedal, but not their amps. Didn’t keep the pedals. Alessandro’s are amazing! His best stuff imo is his AZZ series. The Bludotone/Two Rocks IME are overrated

Eddy is great. He answers all my questions thoroughly and is conversational even though I got it used. He’s so young that I bet his true prime is still to come later

You want to go Beast Mode ULTRA
with thst Lenz??
Dude, a 2X12 with Redbacks..it’s gets almost Recto-like.
That’s the one thing I wish Eddy would do differently is to use Redbacks instead of Greenbacks for the monster mutes.
Sounds so freakin’ killer with Redbacks.

My thing nowadays is having multiple cabinets with diffferent speaker configurations for inspiration and new ground to break.
I run all Zilla as keeping the cabinets the same maker is very important to me.
The sound starts releasing RIGHT on the edge of the grill cloth which is also very important.
I keep the continuity so I can ‘mine the seams’ of creativity and squeeze the jam outta the jelly
st every given moment playing my guitar.
Both my amps sound killer through my 4X10 with the Ace mix of Golds & Greenbacks.
The Zilla OS with slightly slanted top baffle 4X12 wHeritage Greenbacks is Manhattan skyline of dopamine in the midrange..
Just hard to believe at moments.
Too blessed to be stressed, ya hear?

The amp sounds like a recto as is to me already as it was designed to be. It would sound great with redbacks though I’m sure. I like red backs a lot. For hard hitting chugs it would probably be most killer with JBL’s

Word.

Can we see a pic of the Octane’s rear panel please? Is the loop footswitchable?

Was checking out his website -

“3800€ incl. 19% VAT

For customers outside the EU: 3800€ incl. shipping”

19% cost of shipping to the U.S.?! That’s around $650. 🤯

That says it includes shipping outside the EU, no VAT.

Yes, usually things are cheaper for folks outside EU (VAT sucks and is a lot of $$). I just wouldn’t expect him to charge 19% of the cost of the amp to ship outside. 200-250$ is usually the cost of shipping from EU to USA and is what I’ve paid in the past.

Truth.
This Zilla 4X12 is unreal man.
OS with slightly slanted top baffle,
Heritage Greenbacks stay tight but juicy.
Changed out the control knobs to gun metal.
Brings on the ENGL flavor of the vibe.

The Zilla 4X10 with the Ace mix of Golds & Greens is for the Lenz Evil Twin, hence the Fender vibe & grill cloth.
That Zilla 4X10 is so freakin’ killer man.
The Zilla Fatboy 2X12 w/Redbacks is THE BOMB for the brutes/ just mean as all hell with herds of punch in the grunt.
It also rules for big cleans..

I just visited him at his place in Stuttgart and played one of these as well as his modded Rev G Rectifier. Also played his Marshall based amp but I can't remember what it was called. Fave amp of the day was the modded Rectifier. Best one of those I have ever played on.

I think your’re the old school member that had
a great clip of a boosted Wizard from back in the days.
Good stuff dude.
I didn’t deal with any of all you mentioned except for shipping $200-$300 from Germany.
But this was almost 2 years ago
