Yeah wizard punch is great for riffs but hard to play leads with . You trade stiffness for headroom , easier playability comes with lower headroom unfortunately. Ive been bugging Dan Gower on if its possible to get the best of both worlds and this was his answer -

To be totally honest it's a combination of a bunch of things that add up to that sound. Overall those amps are designed for quite a lot of headroom using specific types of component materials, grounding style, high plate voltages, higher filtering in the power section and the preamp and phase inverter are also designed to have a drier type of response which also gives the impression of more headroom too.
Personally I like to try and find a balance, it's really no fun playing an amp that just feels like you are fighting it the whole time. Even if it sounds cool… Playing feel matters so much, and it's just boring if it doesn't have the response you like.
Getting that big powerful mid range and low end, while retaining the nice playing feel and midrange that all sounds very musical and dynamic, that’s my goal when i’m modding/rebuilding amps.”
