NAD part Ii: 1992 boogaloo

I wouldn't even know where to begin with all of the 5150 family.
Which one has the most articulation and grind and tone and low end and tone and grind tone and articulate low end grind tone?

Honestly they basically all sound the same. The original block letters and 1992 sound a tiny bit thicker and more refined, and the 6505 plus sound a little bit more midrangey, and the fender evhs sound a bit smoother, but honestly they all basically sound the same.

What kind of Hiwatt is that?

It's a a ceriatone kit build of a Dr103 i just finished, i think i posted gut shots somewhere else too, but here's my attempt at a clean reeves-y wiring job XD

I'm a novice compared to fusion, jeremy, shea and all the other guys around these parts, but I can follow directions :dunno:

Holy shit! That's some Harry Joyce wiring there. Great job. Sounds like a DR103?

Nice work, Dan👍🙏

Thanks guys

If anyone is looking for a grab n go amp for playing grab n go wineries in tan pants with guitars that weigh under 7 lbs, the hiwatt DR103 is NOT the amp for you

as far as decibels, it keeps up with a marshall major; as far as perceived loudness, it sounds and feels louder

it is not for the faint of heart, but if you crank it, it has some of the coolest midgain sounds on earth

DR103 is my favorite cleans and edge of breakup amp.

Same, it's 100% it's own thing and sounds like no other amp - even the sound city and fryette stuff is just different, although also good

It's the ultimate "makes your mistakes stand out more" amp. It makes wizards and deliverance's sound and feel forgiving.

but at the same time, when you can play, it can do things nothing else can

Dude...I've never wired up/soldered an amp build, but I repaired appliances for like 7 years for my first job (another lifetime ago...LOL) and did a butt load of soldering to know...that's some fine work!!!!

I worked in electrical/manufacturing maintenance for a long time, and I've done minor amp repairs for years, but this is my first actual build

Thanks man! I took a lot of time with it and was super careful, and it turned out pretty good

Yes it did!!!!

The prices for vintage ones were insane, especially considering how bad of condition they're all in - basically all of them for sale on reverb need cleaning, caps and other electrolytics

And i figured if I was going to end up doing a bunch of soldering I might as well give it a shot

It turned out really legit, surprisingly
