New 212 cabinet?

Hey all,

I do like my Buzzbomb quite a bit but being the tinkerer I am and having major GAS.....I want to check out another cab this summer. Maybe something taller and wider. The Splawn 212 looks sweet and nice and deep as does the Voodoo Labs cab. However, they are way expensive and I don't know why theu would be that much more expensive than other manufacturers. I mean, an unloaded Buzzbomb is very reasonable even with custom options.
Then, there is always the Egnater 212, but I think I have a thing for deeper cabs like the Acoustic Mills 212 or the ones mentioned above. I have used 12" deep 412 cabs and never been happy. I loved my Line 6 412 and that was 14" deep. Was more resonant and deep sounding.

I love my Egnater 2x12 but have heard great things about Port City.

I heard bad things about Port City and hate the look, LOL. I am interested in the Egnater.

hahaha, really? interesting. I never heard a Port City but remember reading that alot of people loved them.

The Egnater is great and cant be beat for $450. (I dont think the USA one is available anymore and the import is apparently identical).

Just have Mojotone make you a custom one if you want an "Eggie 2x12". I had them make me a custom 1x12 to fit under my Mod50 1x12 combo exactly, with the same tolex / look everything.

Would love to know if anyone heard the Splawn, Mills Acoustics or Voodoo Labs - they look wicked.
Voodoo Labs is making guitar cabinets now?

The Egnater 212 from Guitar Center is a great, without a doubt. I was gonna buy one but ended buying two of the 1x12 versions instead, which are much more portable and sound equally good.

I'll probably still pick up a 2x12 at some point, maybe even a pair for bigger festival stages and stuff. I've always been a big fan of the Vox cabinets. The newer, and less expensive V212 cabinets can be had for under $350. The stock cones aren't bad, but the cab really comes alive with Private Jacks or Red Fangs.

Someone told you a fib! I have the port city 2x12 (for larger gigs) and the oversized 1x12 (for smaller gigs) that I use with my egnater mod50. Best sounds I have ever gotten. The look could be improved but the look is fine to me because I have NEVER heard speaker cabs sound like this. You have to turn them up to get the cab pumping a bit before the magic happens but when it does...wow!

Sorry I meant Voodoo Amps.

Mybe I am wrong but the Port City cabs look so cheap.

I never thought about two 112 cabs but that is a good idea! Plus, you could stack them or separate them...

Eric, don't you have the 112? How is it next to you 212????

Looks like Eggie stopped making the larger 112! The one on the Eggie site is 14x25x22.5
The Rebel 112 is smaller!!!

I think you're the only one. Try one out anyway. What do looks have to do with tone? Imagine it turns out to be your favorite cab but you won't play it because you don't like the way it looks.

I would not say the PC looks cheap at all. They also have a lot of options on tolex, grill, etc.

I have the larger Egnater posted in the gear classified section for sale or trade...it fits perfectly under the mod 50.

Seriously, PC cabs are the ones!

From his pics, he's got 2 of the Rebel size 1x12 cabs.

For me: Cab has to match the head.

Carpet's gotta match the drapes, ya know what I'm saying.

Klark, which 112 do you have? The USA version or the smaller TM?
Yes, they're 112x's. I think they're great. Wouldn't be enough for big fest stage, unless there's a nice monitor rig on deck. My next purchase will either be two Egnater 2x12's, or two Vox 2x12's.
