I see a lot of new faces here. Just wondering why?

Dudes with 10 - 200 posts that I just don't recognize. Curious if you dudes are posting more on R-T because TGP is lame? Is it because you feel like you can express yourself better here without backlash? Is it because you dudes are just trying to get to 50 posts so you can B/S/T? Are you dudes just getting back into guitar again after a break?

Just curious.

I mean if you are, then welcome to R-T. Post up. Tell us your story. Most of us regulars really like this place and we pretty much all get along real well, even when we disagree. We have very little spam/trolling as well. We have kick ass Mods too - which helps. Carry on.
Joined earlier this year...sorry never introduced myself. New to this forum thing and how it all works.

Me... I've got more gear than talent (2 years into guitar) but good gear helps right?

I had been on TGP for maybe six months. Read a post that said go to Rig Talk if you want good Diezel advice. Was looking for and recently added a VH2.

Bought my first piece of used-gear here on Rig Talk (Diezel 2x12 cab) with a Monkey Man personal intro before my 50 hit. Been here ever since.

Still can't figure out how the fuck you all know each other by first name and where each other live, or why there is like the same 30 dudes that post in every thread. Did I crash some forum of less than 100 dudes that all played together at some point? If so whoops, but thanks for letting me in and not being a dick...yet :p.

Points if you get my user name reference.

I take it the purchase worked out well then, brother. Great to hear man; the honour was all-mine.

Simple explanations for both of these phenomena bro':

When someone calls another by his name, it's noticed and gradually more peeps do the same.

In every forum there's a subset of the total membership that's composed of what one calls "active members" - the regular posters, if you will.

Many of the regulars have been buying/selling/trading gear with each other for years to the point where we are on a first name basis and know where each other lives.

Yep it worked out great. Was the only Diezel 2x12 on the market (new or used) and it was in mint condition.

Thanks for insight on the name thing. Unfortunately I'm so bad with names I am never be able to keep track of them...unless...I bet I'll remember the ones I trade with like Cordoba said.

You guys got any insight on the typical uses? Average age, gigging vs. home players, geography (I'm US but definitely seen lots of International)?

I’ve been here a long, long time. This place has its ups and downs, like any other online forum. It’s fun when you need a distraction, but it’s a distraction from productive things, like actually playing. That’s just for me personally. There used be a lot of just monster players around here, but they left years ago. Still a lot of great guitarists here, but there was a mountain of severely talented guys on here back in the day.

Average age I'd say is between 40 and 50 if not a bit higher.

Couldn't guess gigging stats, but most of we old fogies have gigged at some point or another.

Geography? I reckon the order of the main ones might be:

1) US
2) Canada
3) UK
4) Australia

UK and Aus may be the other way around.

Awesome sauce man! You got lucky, or should I say "we" got lucky. Really happy for you man. :2thumbsup:

Easy solution bro':
Keep a text file and update it when you see names you want to remember.

Yup, all that's left is us, a bunch of posers. :jerkit:

Hi, i've been quietly reading rig-talk for years and years.

I've been to a lot gear centric places to try to understand how all of this really works, this place is where i learned the most, and has the most interesting stories, technical information, players real-life experience and personnages happening..

I'm an average hobbyist guitarist with some rare or one-off gear that i made (i like to make guitar cabs and modify amps to a point).. I know a bit more about digital amps since i've been using them for years,, that's about it.

Unfortunately, I am not one of them

I didn’t feel that this was disparaging in any way. I’m thinking of some guys who I felt like were pro level, like Ralphie. There are several - many, many excellent guitarists still here. Some are pro-level. I’m not one of either group.

Is that better? 😁

I don’t know who this Ralphie is but your new response is definitely more PC for the cucks.

My response was 100% tongue-in-cheek bro'. ;)

Indeed, your comment wasn't disparaging in any way. It merely pointed to the fact that all that's left here is we air-guitar champs and guitar-hero wannabes who couldn't hold a candle to Lil' Wayne on the geetar.

Oops... there I go again.

I have been a Rig Talk member for many years, but I am on the forum more in recent months because I like it more than TGP and TGP has just gotten so lame. The people on Rig Talk do not have a stick up their butt, and many of the people on TGP seem to really enjoy having a stick or something up their butt. :ROFLMAO:

^

Ralphie is a monster guitarist who used to go by Gainfreak, I think. It’s ok to be nice every now and then, especially when we’re talking guitars. But all the socialists and commies can still shove it up their ass. We good now? 😁
I remember Gainfreak

This is a good example of why I spend more time on Rig Talk these days and not much on TGP. Because on Rig Talk you can still have a sense of humor and not get banned. TGP would have all their many Socialists and Commies getting out their pitchforks to ban you. Their skin is so thin you can see right through it. And that takes all the fun out of that place.

I used to crack up at the angry pitchfork wielding mob emoji over on TGP. It really symbolizes exactly what that place is.
