New Faces? Why are You Here?

I've been here for six years now, so not all that new, but not all that old. Interestingly, I was on HC, but more late 90's to early 00's. I recall a software change on it (2003?) where I got less active. That was right when I was in the midst of having babies around the house, and had stopped playing anything more than local bars or church services (hate the music, but got to be on stage with the wife, so positive overall there). I wasn't there for the great exodus. I was more active on the Jackson-Charvel Forum throughout most of that time, though again it was scaling down early on.

Anyhow, nice that the forum has some new blood. I like this place. It seems like forums are dying lots of places, but the newer media has things I don't like, just in presentation.

Yes, I'm on TGP too and don't mind participating over there, especially on the rack subforum and amp forum, a bit. I've never run into issues. It's just more stuff to sift through to get to things I'm interested in than this place.

I can't remember when I got here but I'm glad I did.
I had yet to pick up a guitar when HCAF was a thing so I missed all of that.
Glad we have this as a welcome to R-T thread and a reminder to all of us as to how great this place is.

OK Brother 3.

There's been a lot of feedback so I thought it made sense. It's essentially a "why I use Rig Talk" thread.

The visibility thing obviously occurred to me too so your point is well-taken. I'll move it back so it can grow 'til it "dies", then if I remember to, I'll put it back here.

I edited my post to be respectful as you are a great mod. Just let it die off here in the main forum so I can bump it every now and then.

the Feedback subforum is just....just....no. Don't overthink stuff MMM :D

Thank you as always brother; you're very-respectful and I, well, respect that. :cheers2:

You hadn't forgotten about the fact that even 'though I'd moved it, it would still have shown up for everyone who uses the "New Posts" feature / link? It's my M.O. to use it on all the forums I'm in so I'd assumed it'd still be on-the-radar for most here. Forgot to mention it before.

Another thing and I think you'll like this one:

Let's make it a "welcome" sticky. It'll only be the 2nd one 'cause we gave Scumback its own subforum, so no biggie at all IMHO.

You like that one Brother 3? :inlove:

I've learned WAY more, and met cooler people, in a couple years of RT than I did in a decade of TGP
man to think i started here only for an opinion on the EVH 5150III when they had come out...
what i loved, and still do, is i get OPINIONS and FACT...and not just fanboy bullshit but real-time meat and potatoes on gear and music...porn on occasion. love it

Covid gave me the time I needed away from work to start playing more seriously again… I was studying for the medical exams in 1990 while I was attending the guitar institute in Hollywood, the summer Saddam invaded Kuwait…. All my buddies were getting nervous to go to the gulf for war… I was going to medical school. Played some but not seriously since…. Covid as bad as it is on society, not just sickness, was good for my guitar playing and my new band.. that’s why I’m here.
Cheers; Andy

I’m here because I need something to do during the day other than my job!

I actually don’t mind TGP (now THAT seems to be an unpopular opinion :ROFLMAO:) and hang out there as well, though I appreciate the different flavor of RT. Seems like a tighter knit community, more interest in harder rock and metal.

Some great folks on this forum. In the short time I’ve been on here I’ve had a number of great conversations and learned a lot.

So backstory I played in a cover band in the early 80’s. Put together a metal band in mid 80’s then left guitar for nearly 10 years. Good friend and awesome bass player got me back into playing in mid 90’s. Put together a more progressive metal band. Got into early forums back n the day. Had a few member changes and took a break again till about two years ago with Rona. Started getting the itch again and seeing all the new fantastic gear available and I started buying gear. Somehow ended up here doing gear searches.

Just a few tunes from my previous band.

Started a YouTube channel just out of boredom
