For instance ?

That’s why I’m trying to get specifics out of people that think this rule would be ok. Thats why I said it hard to define “pornography”. You yourself said “I’m not talking about looking at tits, I’m taking about actual porn”

Do think this ruling would only apply to what you consider “actual porn”? What if what you consider actual porn is different than someone else? Some people might think cleavage on the weather girl is smut.

This regulation is so wildly open ended it is a recipe for disaster.

Mad hatter said it was potentially addictive. Many things are potentially addictive. Now we will need an ID for a coffee from Dunkin. ID for candy crush.

All the reasons I can think of to regulate porn is such a way can easily translate into near complete government control

So if we're making a distinction between the internet and the real world, where porn is age restricted, because as you say it is a slippery slope ( no disagreement there by the way) then why should I pay taxes to my state for things I buy on the internet ? As just one example of internet regulation ?

Yea it seems that way.

But I do think there is a distinction between purchasing pornography and simply viewing it.

Well, I think MM has done a pretty good job of it with the Bikini thread, although I would let it go just a little further myself.

Ideally there would be some sort of way to regulate the phones of minors. Maybe the person who's name is on the phone bill could have access to a censorship device controlled by the carrier ? I think there are options for parents that allow them to control content and at least see when those controls have been bypassed. So in that sense you're correct. If parents really wanted to keep kids from accessing pornography on their devices they could. One way or another.

On the other hand, almost every single website that sells guns or gun parts you have to acknowledge you are over 18 by checking a box. I definitely wouldn't want to have to upload my ID or keep it on file at my vendors, although they clearly already have all that information anyway. Name, address, etc..

From what I've been told most internet porn is free these days. I've never paid for any I can tell you that.

It’s pretty much all free for sure, or at least the website in the news story is, which separates it from most other things that require ID verification imo.
