Most influential player, in technique and sound in rock. Ever. Launched millions into playing the instrument. Hendrix was huge too but not to the level of EVH.

That first album knocked Rock n Roll on its ass.

never understood how people could get connected to, or feel like they "Knew" a celeb personally to the point that it hurt them when they passed...

Now i get it. feel like the wind has been pulled from my body. I was in a meetings... my phone kept blowing up with texts... lots of friends and family letting me know. my wife is upset for me... damn...

This is almost unfathomable. After this, there won’t ever be a “bigger” death in the rock guitar community ever again. RIP to a master, innovator, and true legend.
 
Totally shocked. Although, in hindsight, DLR sort of telegraphed something was very wrong a few months ago.

I really feel for his son. Losing a parent is very, very hard.
 
RIP Eddie. I started playing because of him. I said one day I will play Eruption and I nailed it after some time.

Wow.. It honestly choked me up like Gary Moore's death. It hits pretty hard. Such a huge, huge loss. An innovator, legend, and one of the greatest ever.
 
Greatest guitar player to ever walk the face of the earth! RIP EVH!
 
Poor guy had a long (41 year) struggle with alcohol and so many surgeries and cancer treatments that I'm just as sad for what he had to endure as I am for our loss of him. :cry:

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Thank God we've got his art, which will never be lost or forgotten and will sound just as good in 100 years' time.

I may not 'try' to play guitar directly because of you but you were a huge influence on my life. I will miss you and I'm glad I got to see what will end up being the very last VH tour.

This sucks so bad :(

I hope WVH finally puts out his solo album that he's supposedly been working on for a decade and that it's as amazing as EVH claimed it was....
