Phil Anselmo's black metal band

I wasn't sure what to expect outta 'em but I have dug every EP so far. Pretty sweet that they are doing a proper full length. The bass player in Scour fronts a pretty good STL doom outfit called Nest that's worth checking out as well.
John Jarvis, pretty cool dude, was roommates with my buddy in Baltimore. He was rocking the VH140C at MDF last year. I’m not really into Scour, tbh.

They suck, he sucks. He should just live off his legacy and enjoy doing the Pantera gig. Nobody is gonna listen to this garbage.

There ain't no Pantera without the bros Abbott. Phil was just icing on the cake and now the cake is gone.
I think you don't give him enough credit. I'm not really a huge fan, or of Pantera either (Obviously much respect for Dime) but I think he's talented front man. Wasn't his leaving what made the band fall apart, or was that just legal reasons? Didn't Vinnie always hold it against him?

Maybe you are right. I don't know or care about band politics. All I can say is Pantera died with Dime and Vinnie regardless of how great a frontman Anselmo is or how good at guitar Zack Wylde is.

Not really true at all.

Scour stacks up quite well with other bands in the underground metal scene; regarding sales and streams. Sure, seeing how Phil is their front man they should have a lot more then they do but to say nobody listens to them is just ignorant.

I know it's not a popular opinion but Panteras shift from thrash with some melody to "groove" metal for white trash was one of the biggest missed opportunities in metal.

They became big but could have been so much better. The first half of CFH is like a window into what they should have been.
Not trying to make this an insult directly to you or anything but I think it's safe to say a vast majority of Rig Talk are old dudes still hung up on EVHs ballsack so of course there will be opinions like this.

Imo Pantera simply started discovering and enjoying heavier music over the years and started getting heavier over time. It's definitely not for everyone but Phil has always been into super heavy music and probably was the one to talk the Abbots out of their Richard Simmons gym gear, no disrespect to the bros but come on lol.

Bands don't dress like women anymore and heavy music is definitely a thing, has been for a very long time. Don't have to like it, same way I despise "djent" music but a lot of people saying these guys aren't good is ridiculous. That would be like me saying Tosin Abasi sucks.

Pantera didn't get heavier, they got weaker, slower, and more boring.

I'm not an old EVH dude and I guarantee I'm younger than you 😂

Pantera didn't become shitty because they "got heavier" because they didn't - they got LESS heavy and more shitty because they trend chased rap metal.

Ok...👀

Yeah that's not anywhere near as heavy as "domination"

You are confusing the rap metal hardcore punk influence and screaming with being "heavy" which it isn't

It's the same energy as boomers and midwesterners call metalcore bands death metal 🤷

You said they got weaker and slower.

The great southern trend kill has some of the fastest and most agressive songs they have ever written and it is also one of their final albums.

Not to mention a couple of the songs have the heaviest breakdowns they have ever written along with a lot more of their Down esque southern groove. Not really sure what you're even talking about tbh.

Yeah, you don't understand the difference between metal and hardcore, and that's fine
