Pro YouTubers are surprisingly missing in action on the Mark IIC+ Reissue...

I am quite surprised about the fact of lack of videos.

When you do a search on YouTube for "IIC+" and then sort it out from date a of release, you get only a limited quantities.

You even find clips from YouTubers without one but commenting about it.

Gibson made the very smart decision to not send any amps to the usual crowd but instead they spent all the money on this one guy named Dinesh and apparently let him do all the dialing and playing himself.

I haven't seen any of his videos, but for the company to make a decision like that, the dude must have KILLER recording and playing chops, and know the extensive history of the Mark series inside and out, and what kinds of tones made it famous, and exactly how to dial them, and exactly what kinds of cabs and mics make them sound best.

After all, I can't imagine Gibson putting one of the most fabled high gain amps in guitar history in the hands of someone who wouldn't be a top tier guy at basically everything that amp is known for, right guys?

Looking forward to watching the videos eventually. I bet they sound great!

our resident YT guys have given us a great idea of what the amp is capable of, benefits and shortcomings. I'm not feeling a lack of understanding at this point. Maybe it was brilliant marketing. Every guy I talk to, outside the forums, has already heard about the controversy, and is looking for new clips. Maybe they "Trumped" everyone, lol. 🤣

Bad news; Dinesh did the aural equivalent of a dine and dash

Doubtful

I bet if Gibson had never been in the mix this would have ended (err ...started) much better

But yeah, hats off to the real deal Tubers that we know that post here.

Thinking about the absolutely inexcusable clusterfuck Dinesh caused with the IIC+ reissue makes me wonder something... So you know how the Recto 2-Channel Reissue is coming soon, right?

Well, Dual Rectos are known for awesome high gain tones IF you use a boost pedal, or if you don't, dialing the amp just right and playing super tightly, etc.

What do you guys bet Dinesh has ALREADY shot a whole ad campaign's worth Dual Recto Reissue videos with no boost pedals anywhere in sight, exclusively in Orange Vintage mode, playing only ES-335's or Strats or some shit, nothing but unpracticed boomer leads.

Get ready for Destroyed Reissue Reputation Round 2 coming soon.

Its 2024and Christmas time during the worst economical shitstain ever known. These amps are 3600 or some shit before taxes.

Why are you surprised theres not more so soon, it's pretty obvious really.

Maybe Gibson didn't think that youtubers chugging away was the right way to launch the amp?
Big companies can make weird decisions when it comes to marketing and surprisingly there may be actual data driving those.

The OG was a boutique amp ahead of its time doing many things well and sold to working musos looking for a bit more flex and gain, not a Metallica amp, and the their demo showed that.

Also, why would a company like Gibson/ Mesa give the amp to youtubers when they can call the pros in for demos like they did with Petrucci, Timmons etc. What a way to stir up the nostalgia and show the amp's capabilities. Get JP, Hetfield, Luke, some smooth jazz 80s studio cat and talk about the OG and new one and play some licks..
For me the question is wtf they have not done that, not why the amp didn't go to Ola and Fluff - no offence, the dudes built a great thing in yt

Gibson's known for not making smart decisions when it comes to running a successful business.

For all we know, there are more videos out there and YouTube’s algorithm is doing a great job hiding them from everyone.

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit. The logical extension of force feeding us the tone-matched recordings of YT stars is to starve us of content put out by the havenots.

Tone matched, I say, BS, you say.

For the record, I have extensive experience with the Kemper and some experience with the Quad Cortex.

Just listen to the profiles Ola England did for the Kemper. Or the captures Rabea Massad did for the Quad Cortex.

It tells a very different story about their amp recording prowess.

Plus here’s my favourite video that proves Ola tonematches:

Here is the company video, for reference purposes:

Lastly, have you ever seen YTers tweak knobs on an amp during a video? The tone hardly changes.

When honest people do that with an amp, the whole thing turns to mush, begins to start sounding horrible when you turn any knob to 0 or 11.

I get Gibson's strategy. Because to be fair, there's only a very small number of YouTubers that are competent at recording these amps and getting usable tones. And in the case of the Mark IIC+, the overwhelming interest and demand was already there, so why take a risk on some poorly recorded videos and getting negative reviews before the pre-orders are even filled?

I like our youtubers showing the new stuff. I also like to hate on the youtubers and then hate on the amps before I buy on the used market. Damn you Gibson!

Totally agree about the "worst economical shitstain ever known" but around me, people are still spending like there is no tomorrow. So I was expecting more videos. In the meantime with get squeals, thoughts and opinions on the release. I even saw a comparison which in fact, the YouTuber had no IIC+ but was explaining how his Mesa was a better choice.
