Proof the Earth is round

I'm good but thanks for the compliment :D

So keeping on topic - do you also mistrust what you have been told about the globe Earth or are your beliefs strictly bound to that reference/interpretation in the Old Testament?
My beliefs are bound to orthodoxy. Anything outside of that is irrelevant to us for the most part. The official stance of the church in terms of earth's shape is "we don't know" and the bible implies that no one knows. The entire naming of our solar system is based around greek pagan gods. Mars, god of war. Mercury, messenger of the gods, Venus, goddess of love, etc etc. We don't care about that crap.

The names we assign to things is irrelevant. You can call the planets Arthur, Martha, Egbert, Aloysius and Murgatroyd etc if you like as long as you know which one is which. At the time of writing the Bible people didn't know the shape of the Earth - we know now. Not sure why this is so difficult for you. I once had an argument with a Jehovah's Witness because they are all hung up on the name of God. I pointed out to them that Hebrew doesn't even have vowels or upper and lower case. Did they understand my point? I don't think so. Again, what we call God in English doesn't matter. They seem to think it's absolutely essential yet they still have Bibles in English. It's crazy stuff. If you want to be strictly correct Jesus wasn't even Jesus he was Yeshua. Does that matter? Well not really. We know who we are talking about.

You are one of the most orthodox guys I know in terms of deed. You always are able to show saint like kindness and are mild mannered like a monk. All you gotta do is get the orthodox dunk and some holy communion and you're on your way to being my boss in the next life.
Like a monk ? Really?

Hey 311, do you brew ale ?

I don't like having stuff named after false gods. They should be forgotten. I don't keep occult objects in my home either. Those are pagan systems for people outside the church to worry about. It's not a criticism of them, it's just a bunch of heathen cosmology so none of it is important or matters to me. The earth is a ball, what does it matter? The earth is a pancake? Where's the syrup? The earth is on the back of a turtle, what time is soup served? "Foolish controversies" as you would say. And they mean nothing to me in light of faith tbh. I can question any of them because they are outside the church, they are outside scripture. They are IRRELEVANT.

Yeah because he never says anything unkind to people here. An orthodox monk will not speak harsh words or condemn another soul because they (attempt to) live a Christ like existence and to insult another person is like insulting Christ, since all men are created in his image. He was the first person here on rig talk I ever introduced myself too because I saw that in his character. Everyone wants others to be kind to them and so it is a certain light to his character that the Lord has blessed him whether he realizes it or not.

It shows that the earth is round and spinning.
If the earth is round and spinning how could the oceans possibly be flat?
That is a logical deduction but I'm asking for a demonstration or experiment that directly shows how water can behave that way.

The ones in Belgium also brew the best beer in the world. My personal favorite is Rocheforte 8.

I don't think the Bible says all human knowledge is wrong. It says it is meaningless in the grand scheme of things and regarding our purpose here. That is true. Your human knowledge won't save you from hell and ultimately accumulating it won't do you much good when you die. However it doesn't say all human knowledge is wrong. There is a difference between human knowledge and wisdom. As for the names of planets being named after heathen gods. I don't think it means anything. You and I don't worship them. The Bible names heathen gods. It knows they are false and rubbish. So too do you know that they are false and rubbish. Therefore it means absolutely nothing. Call them what you will, name them your own names, the label is irrelevant. It's just a word in our language and it has a certain historical etymology. I certainly don't think Venus the planet is the god of love. It's a hellish planet with a crushing atmosphere with an oven like temperature that would melt lead. End of story.

No, not really bro. There are endless demonstrations of the earth being round.

I’m not really sure what kind of “experiment” you have designed in your head to prove it to you though

There are endless demonstrations showing the earth is flat as well. But what I'm asking about is some kind of experiment that demonstrates water can evenly conform to a convex surface.

How about a concave surface using a spinning drum like a washing machine.

Actually ok... How about how water forms a globule in freefall in zero gravity. Like on one of those aircraft that do an outside loop or of course something in orbit. The shape of those globules are convex.
