No such thing as "saints" in the sense the Catholics use the term. They are a Catholic invention.
Saints and Martyrs are a real thing and are found by name throughout scripture. Even you venerate them by reading their writings.

Those are cool but I meant in regards to the curvature of water.
Does a tide curve water? What causes the tides? Do you think it might be gravity. Why do you think gravity doesn't curve water on a macro scale?

The holy tradition existed without scripture for 200 years. You are arguing against history with your reformer nonsense.
Paul had to correct a lot of the early churches. Pity he wasn't around to correct yours.

None of them are called a saint in the Bible. All believers are "saints". Different thing though.

Tides do not curve water. The tides are supposedly caused by the gravitational pull of the moon.

If the tide rises in one area and less in another there is a curve where it bulges. Basic geometry old sock...

People around here worshiped Drew Brees. He lead the Saints to a Superbowl win in 2010. My understanding is hell froze over that day

Paul is a saint in our church. Tell me about the blessed cup of blessings. 1 Corinthians 10:16. It is the tradition of holy communion from the time of pentecost when the church was formed.

Just more bad protestant self-interpretation hence 45000 denominations, every one of which is a break from orthodoxy.

  • 1 Corinthians 1:2: Paul calls all believers "saints" who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus.

  • Ephesians 1:15-16: Paul expresses gratitude for the faith of others in the Lord Jesus and mentions them in his prayers.

  • Revelation 8:3: The prayers of the saints rise up before God, and God acts on earth.

  • Hebrews 12:1: The saints are a "cloud of witnesses".

  • Psalm 85:8: The souls of the saints are preserved, and they are delivered from the wicked.

  • Psalm 97:10: The saints are to be joyful and sing aloud on their beds.

  • Psalm 149:5: The saints of the most high shall take the kingdom.

Different meaning of the word saint as I said. It's not talking about Saints in the Catholic sense of the word where you call someone St Dogsbody or whatever because their face appeared on a piece of toast and bled tomato sauce.

You just don't know your bible very well my man. I spent about 3 hours last night wrecking another protestant so get in line.

  • Matthew 22:32
Jesus says, “He is not the God of the dead, but of the living”.

  • Matthew 17:1-8
Moses and Elijah are alive and speak with Jesus at the Transfiguration, even though they had died on earth many years earlier.

  • Matthew 27:52
This verse describes the saints inside tombs breaking open and being resurrected after Jesus' death.

  • Revelation 5:8; 8:3-4
This passage describes angels and elders in heaven offering up the prayers of saints on earth as incense before God's throne.

  • Hebrews 11:1-12:1
This passage describes the saints as a "cloud of witnesses" who surround us and are examples for us.

And as usual @Thumbpicker cuts and runs when I turn up the orthodox heat. You have 200 years of church tradition before the scriptures you hold dear existed. And holy tradition and scriptures are seamlessly integrated together so good luck separating them. If there is no holy tradition, then there is no church, there is only scripture, which is why your church is like a Ted X talk with acoustic guitars and grape juice and a dude in business attire talking too dang much. Praise ain't worship. And what even better proves my point is all protestants disagree with each other. It's endless debate and "foolish controversy" as you say. Listening to protestants debate is like listening to too people who are both wrong claiming to be right. No U. No U. No U. NO U!!!!

Every Christian is a saint and you can extend that to people God has chosen before the New Testament. It does not mean what Catholics mean Saint to mean.

Re: the verse in Revelation, nowhere does it say those prayers were made to them directly. Do you pray to specific angels? Only a few are mentioned in the Bible by name. We aren't told to pray to angels are we. Jesus is our high priest.

Like the protestant I debated last night you keep bringing up roman catholicism, which is a heresy just like the reformers except they still have some semblance of liturgy i.e holy tradition. You don't even have that. I am orthodox, we are pre denominational, and the visible church, the visible body of Christ.

We ask for the intercession of the saints who the bible says are alive in heaven with Christ. It's no different than asking a fellow believer to pray for you in your hour of need.
