Quickrod owners...I have a question

I have a tung-sol in v1 and jj's in the other two slots. Taking the jj out of v1 really helped 'take the blanket off the cab'. I really liked the c9's in other amps that I had but I'm not sure how they'd sound in my QR.

What's your favorite tube configs?? BTW...I'm hard rock but not a chugga chugger

Well...here are 2 configs that have been working for me:

In my QR from the left facing the back: I have a Sylvania 5751, then a RCA Black Plate, then a Jan Phillips 12ax7a. Creamy is the word!

In my Comp: starts with a Jan GE 12at7, then a GE RCA black Plate, then an Sylvania 12ax7a.

I realize these are harder to find old glass...but they rule. Also...Amperex are killer.

I've talked to a local antique audio guy who has thousands of tubes. He said bring in my head and cab and we can run through all sorts of configs They are pricey but I'm more worried about durability

If you have a newer version with 4 preamp tubes, V1 controls your clean, V2 will make the biggest difference in your overdriven/distorted tones.

Personally, I like Tung-Sol's in V1...and anything that doesn't go microphonic in under 3 weeks for V2. I really liked the JJ803's in that position, but it's a long plate...and for some reason, long plates don't like my QR for very long. Believe it or not, I've had the best luck with the stock JJecc83 (not the 803) in V2...I then adjust presence accordingly.

I run my master at 8:30-9:00 (with a G Major in the loop which kills it a little I'm sure), it's as low as I can play without it being too loud. I would really love to open it up but I can't play that loud in churches

ahhh...that's the thing..when you're running something like that in the loop to squash the volume you're going to loose the presence..so you have to run that and the treble up as a result....different pre amp tubes will doubtfully solve the problem...
