yeah it'll help you, and like I said reading some recording 101 reads can really help you a lot
just google it

still it doesn't work.... paste the pic

The TRS to RCA cables will only complicate things further. Just get a normal cable like those you'd use to hook up a cd player with RCA connectors on both ends and hook up outputs 1&2 (labeled 25 on page 4 in the user guide) to your hi-fi system and you'll be good to go. Just about any electronics store will have what you need.
Good luck.

he cannot use those because the Fast Track doesn't have 1/8" outputs, only 1/4 (trs)

What are these then? It's got four RCA outputs, the first pair mirrors the signal from the TRS outputs, the second pair mirrors the S/PDIF output.

Hi,
please...

can I use signal from my preamp from my VH4..directly to soundcard? I mean from serial loop send to conect it directly to sound card and record it this way...

any experience with this?

Thanks

oh yeah you're correct, my bad bbp, didn't see those :D
well then just get some regular RCA cables like bbp suggested

hey michael sup...

you can do that, but I don't know how to with the Vh4..... :(

here I am, i just got a 2 side RCA cable and now seems to work.

the fact i wasn't able to hear anything on pro tools during recordings was because the mic ( shure sm57 ) needs a lot of gain to get heared....

so, now i have to understand how to set up properly the parameters on both windows vista ( to set the M audio pro ) and pro tools ( program settings ) to make the m audio work 100% in shape with the DAW.

what a mess!!!

thank you :)

is there an option to reset all the setting to factory settings on pro tools?
i can't find it

go to the I/O menu, then Setup, and there's a Default option over there somewhere. :)

mmm...that -default- buttons doesn't apply any change.... if for example i make a setting change, pressing default, it doesn't make any factory adjustment :scared:

hmmm I don't have my ProTools right here at the moment so I cannot really tell you exactly how to do it. Let see if another forumite can help you out. sorry man.

welcome, and I'll keep helping you as much as I can, but I haven't used ProTools for a while, and even when I was using it, I was not a heavy heavy user.

yup, see, your system has RCA outputs (as most of the home systems have) and your M-audio Fast Track has 1/4 jack (TRS outputs) which is very common in a more "professional" audio enviroment.

So, if you still wanna go the Hi-Fi system route, try and get a cable that is TRS on one end and RCA on another.

But If you're into making your own music and really diving into this, try and get some monitors..... usually they have a flat response, so what you're listening is as close as it's recorded without any coloration.

Like I said I have some M-Audio Bx5a, and they're ok, but kind of bright. There are A LOT of monitors around, so...just do your search and buy one, it's what I'd do.

Which type of monitors are suggested for guitar recording purposes? Active or passive ones?
Thanx
