Review: GnR vs SL2

Man,I just got done playing and all I can say is if you don't already own one,do yourself a favor and GET ONE!!!!!!It is TONE!!!!!I'm done :D
 
I just got my GNR mod back from Jeff last week. Plugged it in, fired it up, and could not stop playing it! While I thought the SL2 sounded "close" to my Marshall head, the GNR blows it out of the water. Played the GNR at band practice yesterday and it killed. This is truly a must have module. I don't miss my SL2 at all.

Yup! I had two Bogners before the MOD100, a 101b and a classic. The MOD100 is really a much better amp for me and I haven't really wanted another amp since. The Bogners do have a beautiful thick and juicy lead tone but they weren't cutting it for me in too many other departments.

True, but it's written on the circuit board.
 
Didn't want Axl to see it on the front and sue me for using it! Thats why I don't change the front. Besides I think it needs a better name.

Ok Jeff, how about picking the best name from our suggestions? Best one gets a free Super Hot Rodded Marshall Silver Jubilee module!!
 
I prefer just the SL2..cause I personally think that's what the SL2 should have been! But that's purely my opinion.
 
Call it FTW! :D it seems when I start playing it,nothing else really matters :confused:
 
How about SL-SH

It could officially be called the "SL Super Hot", but call it the SLASH for short.
 
Oooh...call it the AFD module. Since it has the "appetite for destruction!" and that's the tone I was going after.
 
What tubes do you guys use in "GnR"? I got mine today and I want to explore a little bit.

only one that looks good aesthetically speaking imo, R = rough for the more gritty nature of the mod. SLSH is kind of funny though.

Chinese V1 and EH V2.

Chinese in V1 for sure... I use a TS 12ax7 in V2.
