Oddly enough he is on the new Ozzy album and a tune came on sattelite radio and I could tell the lead was Beck. It was pretty incredible in context of the melody. So maybe I get it after all... he sort of has this slide feel to the way he uses the bar. Very unique anyway.
I'm saddened deeply . Even if you're not influenced by him, you were most likely influenced by the ones Jeff Beck influenced .
I met him at the NAMM show in Anaheim, at the Seymour Duncan booth back in the 1980's.
A real Gentleman.... RIP Jeff Beck .
I only saw Jeff once, in 2006, but had been a fan of his for a long time prior. My uncle was in town and we had both never seen Jeff live, so we went.
If you’re reading this thread, you probably already have a good idea of how much of a bad ass Jeff was. But that night, he played Angel (Footsteps), where he plays the slide behind the frets - and subsequently blew our minds. I’ll post a YouTube video for reference.
After the show, Jeff’s crew gave me his set-list, where it hangs today in my jam room.
