Show me what you’re building

Well all of those 4 are neck-thru builds. But they are not kit guitars. I have built those from scratch.
Means i turned stuff like this into the guitars you can see in the pictures:

I guess basically what a luthier is doing. However i would not call myself a luthier, just somebody who likes to make guitars as a small hobby (and strictly for self-usage) besides the hobby of guitar playing.

you should do a firebird and explorer body with a jackson headstock like from the 80s

that would be absolutely badass!

Not a big fan of the firebird but an explorer with the jackson headstock might be a nice project and sounds like a great idea.
As i understood there are a few Jackson Explorers out there (out of the custom shop obviously, probably 80s/90s)
Something like this, looks great:

But first need to finish all the other guitars before starting a new one

there are genuinely only a handful jackson ones that all came out in the early to mid 90s right when Marty Friedman was playing one.

plenty of bolt on charvel ones from the 80s that do pop up on reverb every now and then. would love to see the build if you decide to do it!

That's why I never found the body/neck blanks :(
Yeah, if you have a taste of more extreme guitars (as i do, too) you are pretty out of luck with kits. There are tons of kits for Strats, teles and Les Pauls, only a few for traditional explorers and V's but thats pretty much all of it in terms of non-traditional shapes (although one could argue that the gibson explorer and v are already "traditional" shapes by now)

Sure if i decide to build one, i can post some pics. But it will definitely take a long time. I am really slow at building stuff as this is just a small side-hobby.

ain't no rush pal, just post pics. i'd love to be able to do what you do but i dont have the skill/talent. so i'll just live vicariously through you as you post.

Got it together! I have to say this thing is so badass! It’s going to be super humid for the month so I’ll have to wait on doing the decal. The bare knuckle grungier single coils are actually really good. One of the most balanced single coils I’ve tried. They pair with the WD Forte really well. The Allparts SRT- FAT neck that I got from an ebayer exceeded my expectations. It looks and feels great and the fretwork and nut needed zero work.

Looks killer! Is it my monitor or is there a tiny, tiny bit of pink in that body paint? It looks great.

Looks awesome! I've been wanting to build something very similar but with a reverse headstock and a Floyd.

Who was the ebay seller for the neck? They did the relic?

The seller is auroracustomshop. They sell the necks already finished. They install the nut, graphtech level, crown, dress, and polish the frets. I think they offer decal service as well. The price is stupid cheap and I was surprised how good the feet work and nut work was.

^^ Agree, I have 3 necks from this Seller with 12" radius and jumbo nickel frets. Great work and great prices, with very minimal work on our part to set up.

I’ll go first. 1 piece alder body finished by MJT in a heavy relic Olympic white. Aged gotoh ge101ta bridge with steel block. 500k in position 1 on the bridge, 330k in positions 2-5. Pickups are bare knuckle true grit single coils and my ToneNers WD Forte in the bridge

Body is pretty much ready. Just waiting for the neck to arrive next week and I’ll put on the decal, darken the board and it should be ready to rip.

9.5 Radius
FAT C rear profile
(Neck thickness 1.00 at first fret 1.00 at twelfth fret)

Real late bump, but whatever...

I've had two projects lately! First is an MJT ash body, very similar to your's, with a Warmoth neck with some nice flame to it. Pickups are Zhangbuckers, custom 6k single coils and a Brownbucker in the bridge with a partial split. Pots are 250k vol and tone, no load 500k tone for the bridge pickup. Bridge is a Fender Pure Vintage, and the guitar is tuned to Eb. Really love it; tied for the #1 spot!

The other is my first guitar, an Am Std Strat body, with a USACG unfinished neck; used tru oil and wax, like EBMM does, and the neck plays really nicely now. Pickups are Fralin Blues Specials neck and middle, with a Fralin Modern PAF in the bridge; 250k vol/250k tone/500k bridge tone. There's a Callaham block on the trem; really love the action on the Fender 2-point trem. Replaces the studs on the trem as well; stays in tune nice with the F-branded Schaller lockers.

Please note: I know the saddles on the black one look kinda fucky with intonation!

Continuing the trend of bumping a quite thread, yesterday's work was my USACG HSH Tele. Mahogany body with a thin maple veneer, this one was bought from the gallery; looks like a customer order that didn't get picked up. Was originally stock Tele routed, but I was NOT in a tele mood. Neck is mahogany with a rosewood board, with a 24 3/4" scale. Pickups are Seth Lovers and a Classic Stack Plus; believe it or not, you get a LITTLE quack in positions 2/4 with the 500k pots rolled down a tiny bit. Glendale half bridge.

It was on the table because of bad ground and switch issues; I put this together pretty early on in my partscaster career, and hadn't done a great job soldering. It's funny that I hadn't addressed it earlier, because of all my guitars (mostly strats) this one is the easiest to get "into" but also the tightest working space. Meh! Sounds really good and quiet now, though!
