Not for anything but aren't 90% of the amps they speak about over there cloned using the same basic design?

From what I heard \13 is as blatant as it gets with some of their models. I am not saying I am supporting copyright enfridgement btw, just funny on what forum the ban has been posted.

So because a company is infringing on copyrights, discussing them on a public forum is prohibited? Now THAT is some serious censorship!!!

How could TGP be sued for allowing the discussion of the amps? I would really like to hear the reasoning behind this, particularly since TGP has consulted an attorney.

Only if the forum was used as a platform to sell the items can it have any liablity issues from I was just told.

Scott Peterson will fold fast under pressure in favor of censorship, it's quite appalling actually.

Apparently quite a few business interests have his work phone number and won't hesitate to call him and pressure him to censor stuff so he caves in

Scott, Ceriatone sells clones that include a Trainwreck logo, that is simply fraud that's all there is to it.

I saw that this morning and think it's RIDICULOUS! So much so that I emailed the Ceriatone guy and told him he's always welcome at Rig-Talk. :)
As a rule I don't care how you guys run this place, but that's just wrong, man.

I understand that Ed and the Fischer family has every right to persue legal action, it is wrong in every way.

That said Scott and Brian now need to man up and canvas the site for every trademark infridgement such as the EVH home brew guitar in the spam threads.

I just read some of Brian and Scott's posts in the giant thread over there asking for clarification, and I guess I can see where they're coming from. Their contention is that the owner of Ceriatone does use their site to sell his amps, and that although he's agree to stop using the Trainwreck logos, he has not. From that perspective I can see where they're coming from. Getting tied up in a legal battle costs money even if you end up on top in the end, and if you don't have the money...

I just saw that too, that does explain their actions.

Do not ruin my fun with them though, they opened the pandoras box :D

Thanks for the clarification Ed.
That is fraud!

Yeah, that's not cool. I agree with that being a bad thing. But to ban any discussions about Ceriatone is goofy. They started with that, then changed it to only removing any posts that talk about Ceriatone having a Trainwreck clone or something like that. I dunno...

Plus, I believe that Ceriatone posted that nobody ever contacted him about this and that he's stopped doing it.
Chris, my guesstimate is that they decided to do that because every C-tone thread went the way of Dumble threads. Wrong or right notwithstanding, it's their house.

As for the logo shit...look I'm not fond of clones as it is. But then having fake logos really gets my back up. No matter how good GVCG guitars are their use of the Fender decal was just as reprehensible as the C-tone wreck logo.

Yes, him putting Trainwreck logos on his clones is wrong. I agree (keep reading.) Banning any discussions about it is stupid.
Absolutely agree!!!

Holy crap the contributing members really make sure you do not question the power that is Scott Peterson :scared:

This JonC guy wants me to pay for all of the legal fees now

Huh ???????? based on what? splain yerself O' Grill Meister.

The entire issue of the Ceriatone thing is the fact the Nik is supplying dead nuts perfect correct Trainwreck logos on his clone amps. Nik builds cools amps - I've got one. I absolutely disagree with ripping off somebody however.

If Rig-Talk had a succesful amp that it was building, with a Rig-Talk logo on it, and anybody else decided to build a clone with the Rig-Talk logo installed and supplied - I'm going to guess that Thumps position would be pissed and not flattered by the imitiation. The Ceriatone issue is not about public domain circuit - it's about a trademarked logo

To me its a basic argument not even worth having.
