Soooo… $3499 for the RI Dual Rec?

121 works fine by itself for me.
Agreed. I’ve recorded a ton of guitar using a 121 as the primary mic and a 57 added in for sizzle 5-7 dB below it.

I actually like the tone in the MB video and can hear the quality of the distortion in the amp. I think they could have recorded a brighter tone, and that could be anything from the mic position, mix of mics, or even low passing too low.

Either way I think we all know the amp is going to sound godly, I’ve yet to play a Mesa amp not named the Heartbreaker that sounded bad.

The $3,500 price tag on these is insane. The MW with more features was way cheaper brand new before bring discontinued.

Anyways, I still believe that the Road King II is the best Rectifier ever made.
Agreed 100%. The RK2 even sounds better at low volumes than any other recto. It’s the super recto.

This vid sounds to me more room than amp. My recto in the room sounds more like that in the vid. Close mic’d 57 is ok for some stuff and I use it too, the 121 by itself is ok too, just different.

You haven’t played a Nomad or a Blue Angel then. 😊

So you had to add a boost to make the amp not what it was to really like it....

That's crazy.

An amp doesn’t have to be a turn key magical blackbox of mysticism that does everything you need and makes all your troubles go away all by itself.

A great amp can also be one of several elements in an entire signal chain. In other words, an amp can be great if it's a great platform. Thinking about amps as platforms you can manipulate with whatever outside gear you want is a perfectly valid way to approach them. Rectos especially.

I don’t see people going for paying over $2000 for an original 90s two channel G, even with this new price of the reissue. Unless you’re really hard up for a crime chassis, these are a hard sell.

They sound almost exactly like Rev f, just like how the 2c+ reissue is super accurate. Would I pay that price? No, but I think the price isn’t terrible given the prices of comparatively good amps.

Not in the clips out there yet, but you’ll see soon :)
