Soooo… $3499 for the RI Dual Rec?

The Dreaming Neon Black album was a Triaxis/2:90.

DHIADW was a Rev G Recto, pulled straight out of the box for the recording. Don’t tell anyone, though, or they’ll start saying the tone is trash because it was a G 😉
Interesting. I swear I've read in terviews that Dreaming was a Recto. Oh well, my bad. I know Politics was recorded with a Mark series amp (I believe a IV).

So... 2 1/2 days after they went on sale, and GC still has them in stock! Hmm..
That’s 100W Rectos in general. They haven’t sold in big numbers for years now.

I need to double check numbers, but I think they’ve only made around 8000-ish MWs total, and over the last 7 years or so, maybe 1500?

If that holds up, for perspective, that would be 8000 MWs made over a 16 year span while roughly 12000 OG 3 channel Rectos were made in the first year of production alone.

It ain’t 2001 anymore 🙂

My absolute favorite Recto tone on an album release...Testament - The Gathering. What a great album!!! I believe they used a Triple Recto. Sounds massive! I love this tune in particular. That kick drum pattern during the verses is amazing!

They really tapped into something great on this and Demonic. Sounds and songs both. Chuck throwing some Death vocals in the mix. I will say even though Lombardo has the status I prefer Gene Hoglan with Testament.

Out of my ass…. but at least half of their market for this amp has already grown content with using a capture or sim for a fraction of the price or even possibly free if they already had hardware. In the coming years, high power tube amps will become limited edition by default. I don’t like it, being an old timer, but it is what it is. They know this amp is for older people with money and nostalgia to spare.

teens and early 20 year olds are absolutely not screwing around with tube amps. all they use are plugins and whatever is the cheapest way to get a sound.

I completely agree that it'll just be us old farts trading amps with each other in the not too distant future. There will probably always be a niche market but I suspect prices will come way down once the generation that grew up with real amps goes away.

Sounds good but IMO is not a reissue. Sounds different from older Rectos.

Seems they did this as it was cheaper to build and had a marketing twist.

You can tell this sounds “significantly different” enough from every single old Recto (all of which sound a little different from each other) that you think it shouldn’t count as a reissue, even though you’re hearing it played through an unfamiliar cab and mic setup, on a guitar that uses an unknown set of pickups?

100%

Haha, you and I both know that's ridiculous to say based on that one video. If you've heard some other A/B comparison with all extra variables removed, or if you've A/B'd the reissue and multiple original amps yourself with the amps on a switcher and came to that conclusion, then you'd have a point.

If those things haven't happened though, then you're full of shit and don't know what you're talking about.

BTW I'm not claiming the reissue is identical to the old amps. What I'm saying is that 1. it's impossible to know unless you've done the tests (competently) yourself, and 2. that clip I found sounds great.

I wonder how much ransacking of that room Gibson did.
Gibson transferring another Boogie R&D employee to Indonesia.

Of course.

My statement was hyperbole and stated as an opinion.

The thought isn't drawn from that one video but rather from every single video posted of the amp so far. I know I replied to you, as you posted the video, but I was expressing my feeling in general.

I am a Recto lover and would love for this to bring the best of the old models to an off the shelf model.

I am disappointed in what I am hearing in the videos so much that I don't even have a desire to try one.

I gotcha. I still think until we hear a proper A/B comparison, it's gonna be impossible to really know.

The other thing is that with how close the IIC+ RI is to the OG, I don't think the Mesa team is incompetent. If they wanted to create a kind of hybrid Rev F and G Recto, I don't exactly think they'd be incapable of doing that. We also have people on the forum who say the Recto RI really does sound like a blend of the F and G.

I'm still waiting on a really good A/B video or clip though.
