Tariff Day 4/2/25

We are going to tarrif the oil, natural gas, electricity, etc... that you buy. Works both ways. No one wins.
I'm tired of watching tiny inconsequential nations like yours take advantage of us financially. It's over Mike.

The US is hated in many countries around the world , wonder why???
Yes, the same dirtbag politicians that allowed nations like Canada to get the better of us did a lot of dirty dealing around the world. That's over too now Mike. Canada and Greenland are ours now for all intents and purposes. The sooner you get used to that the less painful this will be for you.

Hahaha, give your balls a fucking tug man.

You aren't able to address any points. You want a free lunch but all Trump is gonna be serving Canada is shit sandwiches.
Wait and see.

You will feel the effects as well.

Hard to understand....but you will get the point eventually.

Hahaha China, Japan and South Korea are forming alliance to screw US.

Just the start.

You have yet to provide one ounce of proof that you have any idea what the words even mean?

Enjoy living with that belief.

Share, enlighten us. Please. I am not an economist, just read a few books....always open to learning.

I don't believe that you are given this statement:

You obviously have zero clue what a fucking trade deficit is and why it exists. Please educate yourself.

Anyways, it wasn't my intention to attack or offend anyone. Only express reality in it's simplest terms. The above statement shows that you probably aren't ready for that and would rather hold onto a rabid level of fantasy victimization and choose to believe that we're enemies. If we wanted to get into who is what; your country is the antagonist in the traditional sense while claiming to be a victim. Whether or not you see it that way doesn't change anything. Personally not an isolationist, but I am a realist.

As a realist, I know that even hinting to you my level of understanding global and local economics would lead down a circular path of "buts" and "what ifs" that have no merit in the discussion and only serve as an attempt of trying to get a gotcha moment. There is no gotcha moment. This needs to be done. It should have been done a long time ago. I don't blame you or the citizens of your country personally. I blame us and our greed. Our need to consume and spend as little as possible while doing it. I blame our governments for playing along so that those in power could line their pockets off of the backs of everyone while bankrupting us.

I'm not going to pretend like y'all are victims of a bully though when the balance of who takes and who gives is where it's at. Not to say that we don't need or appreciate your contributions or that it is a specific fault of your citizens, but it's not in anyone's long term interest to continue down this path. It's mainly our own fault for relying on it as a whole for so long and we need to move on from the policy if we're going to survive in the future. I hold it as no slight against Canada, but it's not sustainable. It's really that simple.

You claim to have extensive knowledge on this subject, yet cannot give any meaningful information on the subject?

Not trying to be an ass, but, please share your knowledge.

What meaningful information would satisfy you? You seem to be ready to go to war over something that is doing us all harm. It's actually kind of scary that someone would be so ingrained in a fantasy that they would go there. What exactly should I make of that and how should I proceed in a way that isn't going to end in countless irrelevant responses that seemingly are based on emotion and not logic? This isn't my first rodeo in dealing with ultra-partisan stances. I am aware of the waste of time that it is. You ask for definitions of things that even someone not in the know could search in seconds for an answer to which you would want to dive deeper and on and on and on like a merry go round that ends up in the same place it started. Do you waste your time explaining to people the earth is round?

You can keep coming in here and saying this and that but Lisa speaks facts not Woke BS bias.

The US is in fact in a trade deficit with Canada at 11 billion or so dollars. This means the US buys/imports more goods from Canada as a nation than Canada buys/imports from the US and that is essentially what a trade deficit means. It's really not some weird Nu-English or that complicated to understand my guy......

Regarding Lisa or anyones understanding of a simple term you don't have to study in the best business program West of the Mississippi to understand a basic term or go to Harvard or be a genius either......

Nevermind actually take Econ 101A and 101B......

It's not so hard to look up facts..... I mean this isn't complicated. We have to make up facts now to accommodate Woke BS I guess or ignore facts all together.....

Hard to argue with real facts and government data vs Woke Bias..... The Woke left like facts don't they and science.... or at least they used to until it wasn't convenient for them anymore.

Jeezus it's not so hard to add or subtract Rational numbers but I forgot these are the same people in charge of todays below average levels of reading and maths skills amongst the youth/students so it comes as no surprise and par for the course in 2025.

Here.....you can read this to get some tidbit of information on what the actual fuck is going on:

https://economics.td.com/ca-canada-us-trade-balance

Let's say you had $1T to invest over two decades. Do you use it to subsidize the cost of goods for your citizens that come from elsewhere during that period? Do you use it to invest in your own manufacturing? Do you invest it expecting a return of some sort? What point does it make sense and what point does it not? Are your citizens investing the savings difference or spending it mostly on other imports? Are the investments increasing income in other areas? Does the return on those areas exceed the investment? Is the country your imbalance with relying on you to help prop it's economy while not looking for other ways to boost it's own in the long term as to not rely on it forever? There is only one correct answer.

To be clear, I'm not accusing anyone of being woke or leftist. When I say ultra-partisanship that can mean a number of things including blinded by nationalism. Personally believe that the trade imbalance isn't beneficial to any country. It drains us and gives others a false sense of security while also not investing in their own futures to stabilize themselves and create a long term mutual dynamic balance. It's not a matter of hate, it's a matter of history.

If there were no trade deficit, Canada and others would likely do something more for themselves to fill that hole that they rely on (which they shouldn't in the first place). If there is one what reason do they have to try? At what point do we say enough is enough? When we're broke? Who does it help when we have no money to buy their goods and in turn subsidize their economy? While there can be benefits to boosting others, there aren't currently any in the big picture. It's been a thing for decades and is not getting better. There are definitely specific sectors that make sense in doing so, but the totality of the numbers isn't giving us the return or the savings needed to keep it from being a one way street.

Right on and agree with you on a lot of points but all I'm saying is facts are facts.

I just don't see outside of Woke circles people arguing basic facts or basic terminology over things that aren't that complicated. Did basic math change in the past 5-10 years or something and it's not so hard to understand a trade deficit or add and subtract basic numbers.

Regardless and nevermind that maybe one can argue this and that right and that is another story but the facts are the US is in a trade deficit with Canada and that is all I'm really trying to say and those are facts.
