uh oh, cab pron :)

I'm still hunting for a couple new cabs. There are guys on this forum that make this look like "what couldn't fit in the amp room"

Man @Erock I gotta get over to your place at some point!!

I don't have anything wild cab wise.. just a 2x12 from Mather (currently loaded with Mesa V30's), 2 JCM900 slants (one with Mesa V30's in an X pattern), and an 800 straight cab with white label but non vented G12T-75's. The Marshall 4x12's have just enough give to keep me happy. I had a Bogner 4x12 that I sold off because it was almost too put together, if that's even possible? I'm probably just dumb.

I ran Splawn small blocks x V30s in the Splawn cabs. I’m planning on ordering two more Splawn empty matching straight cabs soon and loading them eminence 1275 top EVM12L black labels on bottom. Yes his cabs can take that abuse - he overbuilds his cabs and they sound amazing for metal. They don’t “breathe” well like lighter Marshall’s though. I find the BX and AX limiting for actual cranked volume and lots of low end. The cabs themselves just sonically fall apart.

Greenbacks are hard to beat for aggressive tone once they’re broken in. When they’re stiff they suck IMO.
Excellent description of the Splawn and Marshall cabs. Especially the Marshall with those speakers, now different speakers and for me they work well. My trusty old 4x12 with 75's has just the right amount of give. That said not a particular fan of 75's but they've always worked with the JVM.

I loved the build of Splawn but you are correct, they don't breath and why I let mine go years ago. Again, build is fantastic.

My favorite 4x12 I've ever owned were 2 Mojaves's, they just had the mojo.

Hang on to that Mather cab, Peter passed away a few years back. Was fixing to place an order with him for a 2x12 with a similar build to the old Custom Audio cabs. He built one for a friend and it sounds amazing. And I think from my post above, Mather may have built the Mojave 4x12's as well. I know he built their 2x12's.

Cat vet bills. Those cabs were the easiest thing to sell and I already had a couple of old Peavey VTM/Butcher cabs sitting around. I'm still playing through two 4x12's. If I'm not playing through two side by side 4x12's I'm not really interested in playing. That's just always been my rig.
Hell yes, furry children come first. How's the kitty?

Off topic but I sold an absolute mint time capsule 1971 1992 Superbass forgotten in a garage for 20 years in an estate clean out for doggy vet bills. It was the easiest and nicest thing I owned at the time and would sell the fastest. Fur children come first - I’d sell it all if I had to.

He's gonna be 13 in may. Late 2020 he hurt his back. Two herniated discs of different ages. I pretty much sold any gear of real value to cover that (10k). He's been good. Trying to figure out an apparent allergy since late summer. Getting a dental in a couple of weeks at which time they'll also do a biopsy to rule out the only bad C word.
But yeah, he is top priority.

Didn't get through the whole thread yet but I wanna play
Metal and Rock
Mesa Trad 4x12 with their V30s. C30s?
Splawn 2x12 with their GB clones 55w Small Blocks
Avatar 2x12 with Classic Lead 80 and G12H30
the others I won't list

These three are all very well built, sound amazing, and sexy to boot.

you're welcome any time brother! It would be fun to hear a real guitarist through my rig!

Here's the ultimate cab, the Scumback 69 spec straight cab. Marshall logo added. Steve Stevens has three of them. He said it had the heaviest tones of all of his cabs when he released his IR pack a couple of years ago.

Yeah. It is kind of funny to me. Mills are such a love/hate.

Vader was a cool brand but i think most people hated them because of eminence. Emperor were beautiful cabs, but the owners were outspoken.

But mills. The only reason it should be controversial is the owner going straight mark cameron on everyone. And yet people hate the cabinets and call them overbuilt, beamy, boxy, directional. Idk. Obviously the design started a lot of copy.cats. i think KSR uses the same baffle.

KSR does use the same baffle and they absolutely crush any Mills overated trash.

I know, it's a bummer. I was thinking of having a second one built to go with it, but then I found out he passed. It really is a fantastic cab, especially for my cover band where a 4x12 is overkill most of the time. I had it built to go with the Wizard MC25 I had for a bit and then sold.. and was based around the dimensions of a couple cabs @* velcro-fly * has.

Were you one of the ones that got ripped off? Or just hate mills on principle?
Dick head ripped me off then I bought two cabs from Bill Keliher of Mastodon on eBay, absolutely hated how they sounded, sold them to a guy in Knoxville for cheap. I only paid $900 for both.

I am so sorry. I hate fuckers that rip others off. There is no excuse for me
