Soooo a few weeks ago I plugged into a 5150 iii with emgs and holy crap I thought it sounded awesome with passives actives make it a whole different experience if only I could try a stealth
I switched all my gigging guitars to EMG's. They sound great with the standard 100 watt and Stealth version.

just wanted to join in on this thread!

I've been using my 5153 50 watt for a few years now and I still love it.
It's heavily modded by Kruse Kontrol Amplification and sounds phenomenal...
He did the "stealth" mod and matched volume between 1 and 2 as well as adding a separate gain control for the blue channel. I also had the "supersonic" mod done at the same time and it kills! Funny thing is when you listen to the clips of the supersonic mod on the website it doesn't sound very good but in person it freakin screams....

I'm going back to EMGs soon

Yeah, EMG's sound great. I've just got a new guitar with the jb/59 set, and they sound great as well. It's actually really difficult to make this amp sound bad lol.

Just dropped my 100 watt back off at the repair shop. Second time in a month. Went to fire the amp up at practice and nothing lit up. Checked the power cable and the outlet. Glad the amp is still under warranty.

Blown fuse?? Could be a bad power tube. Did you try swapping the power tubes to see if they were bad??

What was wrong with it the first time?

According to the "Fender Authorized Tech" nothing. Lol. There was a serious burnt electronics smell coming from the power transformer. The large value internal fuse has blown twice. To me this indicates that there is a serious issue with the amp. I work with electronics on a daily basis. And while I don't make a living looking at the inside of guitar amplifiers, I know that blown fuses are usually the result of something else having an issue. Lol

Just heard from the amp tech. The power transformer is shot. The part is on back order from Fender. It will take four to eight weeks before fender can ship the replacement part. Fuck me.

Sorry to hear that man, that sucks. Do you have a decent backup for it?

Cmon...you should be able to order from Mercury or Classic Tone if they have them...fender should pay for that...backordered...assholes.

I'm a bit pissed at the time frame. I'm sure they have plenty in stock for the new amps rolling off the line.

Hi All

I have a quick question. I have a 50w incoming in the next week or so. Is the 50w loud enough to jam with in a rehearsal situation? I will be using a 412 with V30's. I play with a pretty hard hitting drummer and was wondering if it will be suitable.

Cheers
Gav
