I briefly had an earlier year 5150 III 100w head and liked it, miss it at times. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this was a one time thing as he endorses another brand (ENGL) but I recall this vid of Vinnie playing live through a 5150 III head/cab and it sounds great!

How big is the difference in Gain between them?
I mean, when you have the 50w with the Blue at noon where do you set the Gain on the Stealth Blue?

I've got a 50w I run through an EVH 4x12 and a Splawn 4x12 loaded with a V30/H30 X pattern as of now, with a G-Major II in the loop. Thinking of switching to running it through the EVH 4x12 dry and two EVH 1x12 cabs wet in a w/d/w setup though.

Vinnie sounds the same through all his rigs because he is such a clean ass player with amazing phrasing so i would never base my opinions of an amp on that guy! That said, the EVH stuff does sound good across the board.

Waiting on mine....should be at my local store very soon. Going to see how it couples with the EVH 212 cabinet. Have to be a bit careful because the wattage of the cab is lower than the head.



If the speakers don't work out, I'll put a couple of the Creambacks in there.

I occasionally run my 100 watters through my EVH 2x12 for smaller gigs. No worries...you'll be fine as long as you don't dime the volume. I talked with Howard Kaplan about it when they first came out cause I was worried too. He said the cabs are rated at 50 watts continuous and that as long as you don't dime the volume of the amp you'll be fine. It sounds great by the way. I love the tilt feature of the 2x12 cab and so do most sound guys. I also use my 100 watters with a Mesa Recto 2x12 cab with V30's and it sounds good too.

Exactly what I was hoping for! I've got a VHT 412 with the old p50e speakers in it and a Marshall 412 with 8 ohm V30s and G12K100s in an X config to run it through. Not committed to either cab but I'm hoping I can live with the sound coming out of either one.

I think the v30s sound awesome, but I really like the v30 tone especially when broken in a little, I posted earlier that I have 2 cabs with v30s and they sound awesome!

Well if you bring the Stealth you'll just turn channel 2's gain all the way down and boost so might as well stick with the proven standard.

I have the 5150ii 50watt that I run into two 1x12 marshall 1912 cabs loaded with celestion G85 (old versions of the K100)...sounds awesome.

I have it in a wet/dry set up using a jet city jca20HV as the "power amp" for the wet signal that runs into two 1x12 cabs loaded with the G150's out of the marshall cabs....they don't sound that good so at some point I am looking at getting something different (possibly some celestion V-types...just need to try some out first)
