I'm going to play a FJA modded 5150 III this weekend and going to take clips.. I'm thinking I might be handing him a large sum of cash shortly afterwards. lol
I heard some amzing Marshall mods by FJA, this is very interesting. Please post what you gathered

BTW anyone excited about the smaller 5150 III head coming out later this year? Can't remeber what the wattage is, but it's much smaller than the 50w.

I don't think I read anything about that...got a link?

I am GASing hard for an EVH 5150 iii mini head and a 2x12 mesa cab, however the more research I do the more I keep going back and forth! I really wish the head had the power scaling options as the combos... I am a glorified home player and don't need massive wattage, but would love to crank the amp with the wattage turned down!

Yes!!! Supposed to be 25watts I think? Would be the perfect little back up to my 100 waters to bring along to shows.

I just ordered a 50 watt head. I've never even so much as plugged into one, but the reputation and clips I've heard over the past 2-3 years was enough. I have several cabs here to try it with. Can't wait!

I've always loved FJA's modded ... everything. I'm iffy on the 5150 III's because of quality issues. I've had two friends run them locally and each went kaboom within weeks... This being a FJA modded 5150 III though kinda has me thinking I wouldn't have to worry about that as much.

I play mine thru eminence Super V speakers in the Randall lynch box cab.
The EVH just blast thru these cabs.
Not brittle or too bright. Nice Lush deep sounding tone.
I am in love fellas.... :inlove:

I tried to find the Youtube link , but couldn't find it. It was a guy who was a delaer and he got the heads up, he actually got to play it, but he couldn't disclose too much info. Supposed to come this fall.

25 watts? Not lower?
Love to have it as a backup but also to run 2 amps, it'll be a great match with my 50w

I just got mine yesterday. Blown away. I tried it first with a Peavey 2x12 with Scorpions. Sounded decent. Tried my custom 1x12 with a Celestion Century Vintage Neo. Holy crap, there we go!!! That's a smoother V30 type speaker, and it LOVES that amp!

I'm not worried about the Blue Channel volume jump right now, because I really just wanted the Green and Red channels. I view that as a nice bonus amp lurking in there as an easter egg. I'll address that later.

I don't think its even an issue...when I first plugged mine in I was like "holy shit thats really bad" then after about a minute of dialing knobs the jump wasn't really noticeable anymore. You just got to EQ right and not expect fender type clean tones

I've got a pretty nice clean tone dialed in right now with my Jeff Beck Strat-

Gain-12 o'clock
Low-1 o'clock
Mid-10 o'clock
High-2 o'clock

Resonance at halfway in the back.

I'm guessing raising the gain will lower the volume jump between Green/Blue? Not sure if it will be worth it. I play A LOT of clean guitar, and am replacing a Fender Twin with pedals, so that's what I'm comparing it to. The way it sits, I can just use my Wampler Dual Fusion for medium gain stuff when I need it. Will be fun learning the amp, though. I haven't even tried my 4x12 yet.....
