Did a quick iPhone recording of my Monomyth today. I used my PRS Tremonti in D standard. Using volume only to go from heavy to cleaned-up tones. Gain at about 1 o clock.

With Shea sourcing the donor amp it might save a trip. Maybe it just gives him a bit more flexibility on lead time and latitude on exactly what he does to each amp.311splawndude":l5n2kum0 said:This part didn't come out right. All I was saying was that it would seem easier for Shea to mod other peoples marshalls vs trying to buy on your own - then mod. Just the whole ...you know... dealing with people and the market in general, etc.311splawndude":l5n2kum0 said:As opposed to slightly better known peeps here and other forums that 'probably' have a decent Marshall to begin with and then modding their amp to what THEY want and having that satisfaction.
It other words, seems like a risky move
You guys are mostly right, there are issues on both sides, a lot of amps sent to me by customers have needed repair, id say 3/4 of them have had major issues, I've fixed them all plus modded them and havent charged for repairs out of kindness, this kind of model is flawed, if i source an amp that arrives with major issues its goes back or we settle, very simple. Ill probably continue doing both for now, things are getting back to normalcy on my end.
I agree, Monomyths feel reminds me a lot of a Cameron.the4thlast1":3a4ydy5u said:I just picked up a 1987x Monomyth from forum member Beyond Black .... Killer amp , crushing high gain tones. Super tight without a boost yet still thick in the bass/low mid. Another thing worth mentioning is even though it has that tightness we all love for riffing it retains a nice amount of "juice" still has that bouncy saturation thats not stiff in any way. Very nice work Shea !

Jesus how do you leave the house with having all those toys?

The Monomyth will have more aggression though and is voiced more like Marshall. Mine cleans up pretty decent with the guitars volume when I’m running it on three gain stages. It also depends on what pickups you’re using. The MV is awesome too. It’s very similar to a Friedman and way better than a Cameron.
Mine’s three on the lower input and four on the upper. Unfortunately they’re not footswitchable though. Hopefully Shea will work that into his mods someday. There’s tons of usable gain on either. If you like your Friedman you’ll love the Monomyth too.Junk Yard Dog":3pwdw7lu said:LP Freak":3pwdw7lu said:The Monomyths have a really great feel, I’d say similar to a Cameron where it has sag and feels bouncy but still sounds tight. Thanks, brother. Was hoping you'd chime in. You're the one that sold me on getting my first Friedman, BE50 DLX. It sounds like the Monomyth has a great blend of saturation and tight.
How many stages is yours and do you have a footswitchable boost like going from BE to HBE? That's a feature I'd be very interested in.
Cheers.

I bought the Ceriatone 2204 without transformers, bought classictone iron and had it installed then Shea did the mod and the installation of the Metro loop. I saw it listed on Reverb and wish I could have bought it back. I had to sell it because I had to move on short notice and that was the one thing I had that I knew I could move quickly.
I saw the listing at one point and they mentioned something about not being 100% sure if it was a metro loop so I can verify that unless someone changed it, it certainly is a metro loop.
Im hoping to grab another amp from Shea in the next few months although I know he is booked solid but this amp turned out great. I think Bubba tweaked the bright cap a little maybe he will see this and chime in. When the bright cap was engaged on the pull pot it only had a small sweep of usefulness and honestly you wont miss even if its completely disabled.
I've owned Friedman, Ceriatone, Splawn, and a few other marshall esq type amps and Monomyth is by far my favorite. Every one has different taste but I felt like this was everything I wanted from a hot rodded Marshall. The only thing I really could want from another amp would be a second channel for just crunch tones. Im hoping he starts coming out with his own models eventually.
I hope you enjoy it

Nice man! I figured it had one belonged to Rig Talk alumni. Glad to hear it's going to be in back in the family. Do you have any clips/videos/threads from when you owned it? I'd love to hear more about it.
