The Rise of youtube musician channels

Zachman is still in Hawaii, still hoarding rack gear and close buddies of Braddah Pat aka @mentoneman Both those guys were OG Hawaii metalheads back with Marty Friedman and Mark Kaleiwahea of Sacred Rite. Check this clip of Kaleiwahea absolutely nailing some VH (Mark has 15 subscribers haha )

Zach moved to Arizona many moons ago. Still talk to him all the time.

Mark is still amazing

One of the most disingenuous displays of master-click-bating on such Youtube channels is when some of these content creators make videos with pseudo existential crisis themes such as "we need to talk", as you pointed out, or "is this the end of my channel" and "contemplating selling EVERYTHING", etc. Then the next time it's back to business, shilling as usual with no follow up, action or even mention of the previous week's "life altering decisions".
It's the same here on half the threads !! LOL

It’s easy to complain about but the truth is most working musicians can’t afford to live nowadays without some sort of side hustle. A lot of them are (or have) flocked to YouTube to make a living or pad their income from another job.
Just as it was before the invention of the phonograph. Making money in music, for most artists, was a short lived experience, from about 1950-2000. You could argue that time was the aberration, and music has returned to its normal historical condition.

That's a great video!!

I've known Zachman since probably 2007 or so and used to hang with him at the guitar store in Hawaii from time to time. Great dude!

IIRC before recording, the money was in publishing and selling sheet music for your songs; and of course live performances.

Heres another thing I find pretty insipid......These unboxing videos...like why oh why would anyone be interested in this. Taking something out of a box......commenting on the quality of the cardboard/plastic. like wtf....
I generally just skip to the end so I can see the thing.

Zach Wish is doing the best demos on YouTube right now IMO. Almost never any talking, plays a selection of covers, plays different guitars. His stuff is quality.

5 pages.. I'm glad the hate is strong with all of you as well.. what gets me even more, are these guys that have TWO channels. " One is my studio channel , the other are my gear reviews. "

wait until i premier my "RigTalk Weekly!" segment where i break down threads like this with my opinion that is for sure going to offend people while i make the big $$$ with all the views. make sure to subscribe, like and comment you fuckers!!
