So you could slap one of these babies on a Renegade?

Looks pretty sweet!

Eric makes a good point....I use my Tourmaster for live band work, and it's great for that, but for all my recording work at home, I bought a used RM4, 4 channel Randall/Egnater designed preamp..[you can find them over at the MTS forum]......and I own now 12 modules , so I have access to any sound I need...the system is amazing..All tube..Great feel.....I run the preamp through a cabtone simulater....The H&K Redbox works well as well.....they are under $100, then strait into my Korg Recorder....and it's sounds great...no power amp, no speaker to deal with...runs direct through my Recording set up with K&K Rockit moniters...4 footswitchable channels......this might be your best route to go..I don't seem to miss the tone of the power amp.....if you go on my Rodwelles myspace site, theres a bunch of guitar instrumental songs all done with this set up...I couldn't ask for better guitar tones.....The RM4 also has 2 great FX loops....I run a rack Digitech Delay/Reverb unit for ambience, and record with it that way as well...just a thought

Thanks Guys! It's looking more and more (for me) is to go MOD one day, but a great start would be the Renegade for now. Nothing against the Tourmaster though. ;)

Now regarding the Renegade. Can the Renegade do Metal and Modern as well? If not, perhaps a good pedal like a Carl Martin or something.

Thanks,
Jamie

It's more of a hot-rodded marshall tone. So...no it's not really a metal amp. You'd be better served getting an E2 when it comes out...and getting 3-4 modules like a EG5 or E-Rect to get your higher gain modern / metal type tones.

FWIW, with the contour control active on each channel, The tourmaster can do great metal...the Renegade dosen't do this

Just out of curiosity... has anyone played (or have) the Marshall JVM205H? If so, what's your take?

One feature that looks cool is the "Silent recording"

Says this:
Silence is Golden
When on Standby, the JVM’s emulated XLR output is fully operational, allowing you to record in total silence, a godsend for those late night recording sessions.
Does that mean you can CRANK it up and record in standby? I know the Egnaters have a feature to record out, but this says silent.

It also cost $669 more! :D

Comparing a newer Marshall to an Egnater is like comparing a BMW to a Ford

Are you saying the Marshall is the BMW cause you have Marshall, Egnater, BMW, Ford.
