Agreed- it certainly looks like that crack is there in the pre-ship photo though- I wouldn't have noticed it before but if you look closely it sure looks like a crack in the fretboard...

I think we're getting a little too focused on if that crack was there before being shipped. Yes, that does call question to someone's character if they knowingly shipped it with damage but that's beside the main problem here.
Utimately, the guitar was received damaged and that's on the seller to rectify. That's the point I'm trying to get across, whether it happened during shipping or not. He seems to be stuck on the fact it was shipped mint so it's not his problem, that's not how it should work.
I'm getting no help on a solution here so I had no choice but to open a PP claim. Luckily, it was paid through an invoice because I refuse to do large deals uncovered.
Again, I'm open to talking through this if you want to work through a solution @John4021. Doesn't matter if the damage existed before or not, I just expect you to work with me in some capacity and I think the community needs to know how people are doing deals here as well.
The entire scenario is starting to smell .
John is responsible for many tremendous deals on this forum , for many years .
The responses raise more questions than answers . Hope it gets resolved to the satisfaction of all parties .
never had any problems with John over the years - he's solid, so hopefully this was done in shipping - wood guitars and temp changes can to whacky things. fret wear may be subjective...
Appreciate the offer, I'd take you up on it but I'm in the Southeast. Tbh I didn't know ebony would crack so severely, I have several ebony boards with no problems but I live in a humid environment and oil them once a year or so. Figured if damage like that existed attention would've been called to it.
I assume that John has chosen to set me to ignored at this point as I've had no communication attempts since last week. If anyone has contact with @John4021 I'm just asking for my money back and I'll even cover shipping the guitar back on my dime, which I feel is more than generous given the circumstances.
Otherwise, I'll let PayPal run its course, even though I'll be out fees since they were included in the invoiced amount and I had to make them up.
I'd welcome any input from the mods here if they feel it's appropriate to get involved. Feels like a bad precedent to set that a seller can completely absolve themselves from any responsibility by simply saying "I didn't see it when I shipped". Happy to give any more context required here or in private.
Okay my two cents as a mod…. Obviously the board was cracked before shipping. Pictures plainly show that. Now- john is good people and I think he didn’t notice it… however it is what it is. Guitar is not mint. Would really like to see innogator and John resolve this situation amicably. Shipping could have possibly made it worse….something did. Anyway I would prefer that you guys work this out privately but if not keep us updated and we will get involved. In a limited manner of course…. Thanks
