I thought for sure it was the jose cascade mod,it sounds likeit!!

According to that hand-drawn schematic that's been floating around, that's all the Jose Cascade is. It's a 2203 cascade with 2.7k/.68uf over the V1A and V1B with the V1A having 2 100k bias resistors in series to raise the bias to 200k. I added a .68uf over the V2A as well because I love the mid-range bump it gives. Who knows, maybe I'm reading that thing wrong and the mod has 4 tubes in it! LOL! I dunno. I try to cross-reference it against other schematics and even my own amps.

Sounds really great. The zeners do grate on you after a while. I find myself playing the added tube stage in the Friedman, HBE, more than the Diodes. They do have their place so it is nice to keep them on a push pull. Keep tweaking until your happy with the sound and feel, forget what us jokers think!

I just couldn't get the fizz out of it. Maybe there's a trick to smoothing them out, but I'm getting results I'm happy with without them so why bother right?

Were you running small caps accross the diodes?

No I had a .22uf in series with a 10k resistor, but nothing across diodes per se.

To me I like my metal.....
but my TRUE sound is that crisp edge 80's EVH tone.
And you copped it well on that amp my friend.

If I could choose one tone it would be a great rock tone like that.

You have 4 diodes with caps in between them? I'm guessing you're doing some kind of asymetrical clipping?

Those are not diodes - they are small resistors. Cameron confirmed this in another thread...

Those are not diodes - they are small resistors. Cameron confirmed this in another thread...
