Sounds really great. The zeners do grate on you after a while. I find myself playing the added tube stage in the Friedman, HBE, more than the Diodes. They do have their place so it is nice to keep them on a push pull. Keep tweaking until your happy with the sound and feel, forget what us jokers think!

I just couldn't get the fizz out of it. Maybe there's a trick to smoothing them out, but I'm getting results I'm happy with without them so why bother right?

Were you running small caps accross the diodes?

No I had a .22uf in series with a 10k resistor, but nothing across diodes per se.

Try this:

You have 4 diodes with caps in between them? I'm guessing you're doing some kind of asymetrical clipping?

Those are not diodes - they are small resistors. Cameron confirmed this in another thread...

Yeah man, the Jose Master was ok. I thought it was more useable without a Hotplate than the Rich Mod I had on there previously. That's a good PPIMV, but its still too loud.

The MV I used was the one in the 2203 Marshall. It's basically moving a couple wires around and cascading the gain stages. If you go to the Metroamp site, they have the build instructions for the MV100 (2203). That will get you the 2203 spec cascade and MV. As for the cascade sounding harsh, I know what you mean. That's where I'm at right now. There's too much uncontrolled gain and you have to start playing around with the filtering. If you want to PM, I can tell you what I've tried so far. It's not that its a big secret or anything... just that its too much to post here.

Sounds good. But every amp I've heard you play through sounds good! Great playing too.

I have an 800 I want to mod for more gain. Not sure what direction I want to go yet. The one thing that I'm concerned about adding the gain, is that it still clean up good with the volume knob. Still in the research phase. I like the Fortins and Friedmans a lot. Oh yeah, I like the Henning Plexirod a lot too!

I'm able to do some stuff and my buddy is a pretty good tech so he could help me if needed. Any suggestions would be welcome.
