I think, if you mute the vocals, Boiler is a properly heavy hard rock song.

When i think of detuned and 1 finger chord junk Limp quickshit comes to mind. Ok, I'm admit most of the negative vibe is aimed at durst but I don't have much else from Boreland to go by. He's got some videos on Youtube where his clean playing sounds better than his heavy playing. There's plenty of other bands from that time period that I like and Limp Dikstick isn't one of them.  I think I even like the guy from Lincoln Park better than Boreland.

Subjective, people....ALL SUBJECTIVE \:D/

Closet Limp Bizkit fan, Mo? Say it ain't so!

-C
Not closet at all... I've liked a lot of their stuff over the years. 'Faith', 'Nookie', Re-Arranged', 'My Way'... For sure, there's been some great foot stompers by this band, and ultimately, I like Wes's work with a 6 string, and I like their approach in melding hip-hop with nu-metal. I listened to them a lot, same era as Korn for me.

Don't hate me....

I'm passed hating people on the grounds of music taste

Apart from emo kids. I fucking hate emo kids!

-C
I don't hate 'em, I just simply don't 'get' em... Strange bunch those fools. Too much fast food in their developmental years me thinks.

LB's first & second albums were great. Seen them at Download & Reading in recent years aswell. Had the whole crowd going nuts.

Didn't care for their subsequent albums.

Their Woodstock '99 performance was amazing, controversy aside.

YAWN ! It's time for some Ovaltine and a nap...ZZZZZZZ. ZZZZZZZZ. ZZZZZZZZ.

^ all of this. There was some stuff on the 3rd album that was decent as well as a few here and there beyond that. It all boils down to Durst and I can completely understand how someone would not like what he does. At all

Were talkin riffs people, the boy has some huge riffs. Crushing riffs. Mute Fred durst, and just hear the crunch factor!

He's certainly no Tony Iommi...

-C

Yeah I'm not really hearing these crushing riffs people are talking about. I could probably list hundreds of guitarists who I think create better "crushing riffs."

1. Mikael Akerfeldt.
2. Most other guitarists who have written anything even vaguely heavy.

Gotta admit....that made me laugh out loud a little bit :D

I never thought I'd live to see a Limp Bizkit appreciation thread on rig talk

I just worked with Wes on a music video last year, came out pretty insane.
Talked amps with him.
He is playing Orange now.
Also, uses an Invader bridge pickup.
I have to say I was disappointed he left the Diezels
But he still writes better riffs than lynch or martini.

This was a fun job to work on:

REALLY? Better than Lynch or DeMartini? Yeah not. No chance Borland's riffs will stand the time test like those two. I like some the that old LB stuff, used to cover it like 14 years ago..fun to play and Wes is talented. But that statement...sorry man. Cool that you worked with him..just my opinion but have to disagree.

Boreland always came across to me as a huge attention whore and hypocrite (I mean come on who leaves and rejoins a band THREE times that he constantly puts down or says he hates)

Most likely someone who needs money

This....
Weren't they just voted worst band of all time somewhere?

Can anyone imagine what Limp Bizkit albums would be like with say early Incubus era Brandon singing? I HATE Fred Durst, he's useless and yet LB's guitar/bass/drums are just incredible to the max. Wes Borland always has monster tone and has what seems like a doctorate in effects pedals/units. His costumes are hilarious/evil. Nothing but respect for LB apart from Fred Durst.

lets check out some riffs. whats the heaviest baddest riff the 80s guys have dropped>?
Im not a huge LB fan or anything, Im just talking guitar riffs.

how about this one?

Even though we are talking about totally different genres, years apart, I'll throw one out there that shits on anything Wes has come up with-

^^^^lol.....you're a funny guy.

Hey, let's go back to the sixties next, and talk about how weak Hendrix was because he didn't have enough gain and didn't tune down to B minus.

No, that is a great riff. Still of the Night, Lay It Down...those are so obvious.

Trying to pump Wes up by slamming any "'80s guy" is absurd. First off, the rhythm section and that rap-rock style has more to do with those "slammin" beats that the notes Wes played. He's cool, but let's get real here.....he can't touch the level of lead/riff playing of a Lynch, Sykes, DeMartini, Lee, etc. they are coming from different schools, with different styles.

I dont get Wes Borland at all. Thinks he's Gambit from the X-Men.
