Mine was an ‘80 Gibson Explorer I bought new.

I went to the guitar shop that day to buy a Flying V because I was huge Michael Schenker fan.

Well, they didn’t have a V in the shop, so I decided to buy the Explorer.

I gigged the Explorer for about 5 years until I scored my Les Paul.

Yeah but I followed it with the orange 81 Rich Rich in this picture.

Killer collection of BC Rich guitars.

I always wanted a Rich Bitch after I saw Joe Perry with one at Texas Jam in 1978.

Their original ones are WAY too expensive for my blood these days.

I had an 80s epiphone rhoads v, the offset v, in red with a duncan invader in it. Shred city.

edit - looks like the model name was Jupiter. Found an example pic...

Yeah I loved those pictures of Aerosmith playing old Rich guitars. Neil Geraldo, Jefferson Airplane, Rick Derringer, Kiss, everyone was playing them in the late 70s!

I don't play much metal anymore but this is easily my #1 hard rock guitar. For me, it does it all. It was also my first custom spec'ed Anderson guitar (I have 4 other Andersons too). I spec'ed it in 2010. I will be buried with this guitar.

USA Peavey Impact 1

Actually a super badass guitar with some unique pickups and a phenolic fretboard that was like black glass

It was my first pro-level guitar

Don't have any pics handy but mine looked just like this:

My first guitar was a burgundy Mexican strat that I put a Duncan sh-6 in the bridge of

My first honest to god metal guitar was an LTD V350 in a gunmetal grey - it's ESPs version of a king v body style. I replaced the EMG hz pickups with a Duncan phat cat in the neck and a sh-14 in the bridge

The cheap Floyd was my first introduction the living hell that is trying to use a Floyd rose, especially because at the time I was touring a ton, and until I got an early 80s dean Z, it was my only guitar

I absolutely love Vs and would love another, but I simply cannot deal with Floyd's

Even nice ones

A candy apple red Guild X-79. Bought it new in 81-82. Sold in around 85-86. By some crazy turn of events bought another one a few months ago and it turns out it was actually my old one..it had been “refinished” with a “custom paint job complete with glitter and skulls. I stripped it and am restoring it now. Found a guy that can do the correct candy finish, still has all the original hardware. Refretted it so it should be fun to play.

Mine was a red Ibanez Axstar which I got for my 13th birthday - it was the second guitar I had as a kid and one of those I kick myself for ever selling

When I quit playing bass in 85 and switched to guitar, a bro in a local glam band sold me a cheap Rhoads copy out of his closet for beer money.
He was a total poser back then. Gold Spandex. Hair spray. Makup...the whole nine yards. But he could sure play that geetar.

This is an internet pic, but this was the guitar.. A RR copy made by Arbor..
I didn't know who RR was, I just thought it was cool. The pickups were microphonic as fuck.
