You want no congestion and wide open spaces, mountains without tourists, you look at West Texas. Take a look at the Big Bend area. Alpine, Marfa, Terlingua, Balmorrhea. Brewster county is bigger than some states.....
noted. but with my accent? :)

Matt, how did you like Maine?
I absolutely loved it. The winter didn't bother me, but Bangor doesn't get it as bad as the further north reaches. The food was terrible, but the scenery was just breathtaking. The prices were a little high on most everything, and the governor is commie scum, but otherwise it was great.

If my wife wasn’t a baby I’d be in S. Dakota.
South Dakota is beautiful but man land prices are steep there. Deadwood areas seems awesome.

Texas means "friend". John Wells of the "The Field Lab" fame (RIP) was a New Yorker and did quite well for himself down there.

Maine is the only place I've seen I could afford ocean waterfront acreage with a cabin. Tempting, but the politics are too lousy for me to go.

It's funny; the state is purple, but only because of Portland. Everywhere else is as red as can be.

Id love to GTFO out Long Island and NY

problem is where do you go to solve the congestion problem.

the southern states are full of Northern transplants.. Traffic is just as fucked up. RE is skyrocketing

In my studies i found you need to get away from the 2 coasts and move inland and away from any major city.

I cant go too far inland because of my accent. they will all think i'm in the witness protection program.

was thinking of eastern Ohio area
You mean your goodfellas accent? Are you Henry Hill?

I like the Keys, but talk about crowded, it's crazy. I'm also looking at the Gulf coast from TX to North FL.

Panacea, Crawfordville, the Florida "Big Bend" you can get into the swamps, or deep water...

here's a fixer-upper, for example.

I also looked at the USVI, but expensive and high crime unless you drop 7-figures on a house....

I also looked a places south of New Orleans, LA, in the Gulf; Grand Isle, LA for example...

I was born and raised here but if it wasn’t for my parents being here I would probably have never came back from Florida 35 years ago.
True that, I'm going to ride for the STL area forever and Missouri. Posted from IL.

Might wanna check Gulfport, Biloxi, Moss Point MS as well. Very affordable and probably affordable slip fees also.

I drive hours out of my way to go completely around Illinois. I like Missouri. At least where I’m at. STL can suck it. I loved living on the south side when I was in my 20s but it’s a lot different now than it was then.

I think maybe spending a decade working on the streets of north STL l, being shot at, having my friends murdered on my job and all that soured me on the city.

The holes you see on the wall of this house were made by a .45 ACP rounds fired at my head from a blacked out Escalade cruising towards me on St. Louis ave. I was in a mini excavator digging in the street.

Don't want to live any place i have to dodge hurricanes tornados floods or heavy snow..

Dont mind a small bit of snow and cold.

Maybe eastern Arkansas would be nic3

I have a friend that ran a hotel in Costa Rica, they bailed out of their about 12 years ago from huge increases in crime. When they started the place it was pretty safe and crime free, by the time they left there were break ins, robberies at their place every week.
East Tennessee is nice. Arizona still has some places that aren't crazy expensive, if you can bear the heat. Northern New Mexico is interesting, decent weather, nice landscape, but very impoverished and a lot of crime.
